After a year and a half of living the dorm life, these are the game-changers I swear by for comfort, convenience, and a touch of personality. My must-haves for making dorm life feel a little more like home and a lot more stylish.
Dorm beds are so uncomfortable but this mattress topper saved my life and my back last year. Super comfy and perfect for mid-day naps and better sleep all year round. A must-have for every college freshman!
Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress Toppers
When your bed is lofted, the last thing you want to do is climb down to grab your charger or water bottle. This caddy lets you store all these items close to your bed. It’s strong enough to hold a laptop, ipad and water bottle and more.
Bedside Hanging Storage Caddy for Headboards
Whether you hang it on the door or just prop it against the wall, this mirror is perfect for a dorm. It’s small enough to save space while still allowing you to see your entire outfit. Very, very affordable!
Framed Full-length Mirror
I used this thing to hang up my jackets, sweatshirts, and hats last year. I love the crystal knobs, makes it look a little chic! Just hang it up on your closet door or even on your bed frame.
Over the Door Hanging Rack
I knew I would miss my family and friends at college so I decided to print some pictures of them to hang up in my room. CVS Print was so easy to use and they had my pictures ready to pick up the next day.
CVS Photo
This was my makeup mirror, my lamp and honestly just my lighting whenever I didn’t have my overhead lights on. There are 3 different color settings and you can change the brightness of the light. It lights up the room but doesn’t hurt your eyes.
Hollywood Vanity Mirror
Hung these up for Christmas on my window and never took them down. Perfect mood lighting for late night talks with suitemates.
String Lights
Much needed since half of the outlets will end up being covered by furniture. Just use double sided tape to stick it on the wall and you can have cords going in all directions.
Surge Protector
Not a necessity but I love mine and I had to bring it with me. This was my speaker, my weather app, and my alarm.
Echo Dot 2nd Gen Smart Speaker with Alexa
I love my coffee and when you have to wake up for an 8 A.M. class, a cup of coffee does wonders. This was also my holy grail during finals week. I like black coffee with some sugar so this specific machine worked great for me.
Keurig Coffee Maker
There’s only so many items you can hang up with hangers. These shelves were super helpful in storing shirts, jeans, and shoes but also things like my straightener and hair dryer.
Hanging Closet Organizer and Storage
I needed storage but I didn’t want the clear drawers and that is when I came across this. Not super sturdy but sturdy enough to do the job. Pretty lightweight so it’s easy to move it in and out the dorm and it looks cute.
3 Drawer Plastic Storage Weave Wide Tower
Omg I love this chair! It is the comfiest thing ever. Almost every visitor I had in my dorm raved about this bean bag. I’ve had many friends take a nap on it when they came to visit. Perfect seating for a dorm!
Gray Bean Bag Chair
I got a 5 by 7 rug for really cheap at Ollie’s but the quality is great! Very soft and cute. I personally got a grey one.
Rugs
Can’t find the one I have online but a clear organizer like this for storing makeup or skincare is rlly nice. Helps keep everything organized and not lose small items at the bottom of the organizer.
Makeup Organizer
Not an everyday dorm thing but so helpful for move-in and move-out. Very spacious and reduces the amount of trips needed.
Timber Ridge Outdoor Collapsible Wagon with Brakes
Perfect to clip on your headboard. The brightness can be adjusted which is great when u need a little bit of light and don’t want to disturb your roommate. Also gives the room a more aesthetic feel.
