Rain jacket for your outer shell. Super light (not hot) and packs up tight fitting in your daypack. You don't want your rain jacket to be super heavy especially if you're hiking in warm areas.

Anytime you go out on a long hike, you should always bring your emergency kit. That kit should always include a mylar blanket to keep you warm. They are super small so not a problem to pack along.
