Skincare Routines For Sensitive Skin

Lotion Bottle emoji 18 items
Sensitive skin isn't a single condition, it's a symptom. Stinging, flushing, random reactions to products that worked fine last month, and a face that seems to take offence at everything usually points to one thing: a compromised barrier. The good ne...

Three rules before you buy anything:
1. Patch test everything. Inner forearm or behind the ear, three days, before it goes near your face.
2. One new product at a time, two weeks apart. Otherwise a reaction tells you nothing about what caused it.
3. When in doubt, do less. A cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen for a month will fix more sensitive skin than any ten step routine.

Dry Skin

Tight, flaky, and reactive. This is the most common sensitive profile and the one most easily made worse. Your barrier is short on lipids, so water escapes and irritants get in. Everything here is about replacing what's missing and sealing it in. Ric...

Fragrance free, minimal ingredients, and formulated around panthenol and madecassoside. It's less a toner than a calming first layer that stops the post cleanse tightness before it starts.
Soonjung pH 5.5 Relief Toner

Milky rather than watery, with ceramides in the very first step. Press it in with warm palms while skin is still damp. No cotton pads, which only create friction you don't need.
Illiyoon Ceramide ATO Moisturizing Milky Toner

Rapturesm profile picture
A single fermented ingredient and nothing else. It softens rough, flaky texture without any acid whatsoever, which is exactly what dry sensitive skin needs instead of exfoliation.
mixsoon Bean Essence

Pure water binding hydration, fragrance free, with nothing in it to react to. Layer it twice on bad days and go straight into moisturizer while damp.
Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecular HA Serum

The ceramide cream Korean dermatologists actually recommend for atopic and reactive skin. This is the seal the entire routine depends on, and everything above it evaporates without it.
Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream

Emollient enough to behave like a second moisturizer, gentle enough not to sting. Chemical filters can bother sensitive skin, so if this one does, switch to a mineral SPF and give it a fair trial.
Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream

Oily Skin

The contradiction that frustrates people most: oily, breakout prone, and reactive, so every acne product on the shelf makes things worse. The instinct to strip and exfoliate is exactly wrong here, because your oil production is often a barrier proble...

A first cleanse that dissolves sunscreen and sebum without any foaming agents. Follow with water only, or the gentlest second cleanse you own. Most sensitive oily skin doesn't need two surfactant cleansers a day.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil

Heartleaf is the ingredient to know for skin that's both congested and inflamed. Fragrance free, hydrating, and it calms redness without doing anything to your barrier.
Anua Heartleaf 77 Soothing Toner

Rapturesm profile picture
Light, non comedogenic hydration that also supports barrier repair. If your oiliness is compensation for dehydration, and for a lot of sensitive oily skin it is, this is where that cycle starts to break.
Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Centella asiatica is the closest thing to a universal calming active. It settles redness and post breakout irritation without the sting of high percentage niacinamide or the risk of an acid.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule

Rapturesm profile picture
Gel cream texture built specifically for reactive, blemish prone skin. Hydrates and cools without weight, and it won't clog what you're already fighting.
Dr. G R.E.D. Blemish Clear Soothing Cream

Rapturesm profile picture
Weightless, watery, and centella based. The reason most oily sensitive people skip sunscreen is texture, and this removes that excuse entirely.
SKIN1004 Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

Combination Skin

Reactive cheeks, a congested T-zone, and a face that seems to be running two different problems at once. The fix isn't two routines, it's one gentle routine applied unevenly. Everything below is light enough for the nose and calming enough for the ch...

Rapturesm profile picture
A creamy, low pH cleanser that rinses the T-zone properly without leaving the cheeks tight. Fragrance free and mild enough for daily use on both zones.
Rovectin Clean Lotus Water Cream Cleanser

Rapturesm profile picture
Deliberately plain: hydration, no fragrance, no actives, nothing to provoke either half of your face. The safest possible second step while you work out what your skin actually tolerates.
ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner

Rapturesm profile picture
The balancing layer. Real hydration for reactive cheeks, light enough that the T-zone doesn't feel coated. Press extra into the dry areas, go light on the nose.
Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

Watery, unscented, and forgiving. Use it as an additional hydration pass on the cheeks only if they're feeling tight, since combination skin rarely needs the same amount everywhere.
ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Water Essence

Rapturesm profile picture
The one to reach for when you've irritated yourself. Minimal ingredients, no fragrance, and substantial enough to repair cheeks without smothering the T-zone if you apply it thinly there.
Etude SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream

Rapturesm profile picture
Hydrating, no white cast, mild enough for reactive skin, and light enough for an oily T-zone. The safe middle ground when you don't want to commit to dewy or matte.
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel
