Business and Entrepreneurship
This book by Alex Hormozi is a master class in creating a sales offer that presents extra value that your competitors can't match. The main thing i got from the book is building your offer into something that's not just a money in exchange for goods or service. This helped me because it is what all my competitors are doing, and doing something different made me more competitive.
$100M Offers: Create Irresistible Offers
$100m leads gave me massive results in marketing. If you are wanting to improve your marketing, this is one of the best books i have read that gives stories with real examples making it easy to understand the lesson.
$100M Leads: Get Strangers to Buy
Million dollar weekend is great because it give you easy tasks to build your skills. Like asking for a discount at you local coffee shop or how to see if your idea or product is viable before spending any money on it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their business, grow their business, or start their business.
Million Dollar Weekend: Launch a 7-Figure Biz
I bought this book after watching the author's Ted Talk on being and FBI Hostage negotiator and explaining the lessons he learned in sales negotiations. The methods are super effective, and he gives psychological explanations behind the reasoning why it works.
Never Split the Difference: Negotiating Book
This book helped me understand where most people go wrong when they start their own business. They are usually a skilled individual that wants to work for themself with their work as the product they are selling. While they are very skilled at producing, they are not usually skilled at running a business and the more effort they put into producing the less time they have to run and grow their new business. Michael uses the simple term of working on the business not in the business. If you are an entrepreneur you need to be working on your business, not laboring in your business. Because that is no different than producing for someone else as a normal job.
Well worth the read if you are looking at starting your own business, or struggling to grow your business despite being very busy working in it.
The E-Myth Revisited: Small Business Guide
Patrick Bet-David uses lots of stories from his experience growing up, learning sales and starting his own business in this authoritive guide to profesional development. He is a great communicator and his narration of his work is delivered on point. It would be hard to imagine this book without hearing it in his voice and tones. If you are wanting to develop your self but you are not sure what you want to do, PBD explains how to make decisions in line with your values not your emotions. Great book if you struggle with decision making and analysis paralysis!
Your Next Five Moves: Business Strategy
I bought this book after listening to Seth on a podcast. What I like about the dip is it helps you figure out if an idea, venture, change is worth doing before you spend too much time, resource and effort on it. Good read.
The Dip
I was given a copy of this book by St John when I appeared on his podcast the Rural Sales Show (ep 64). There not much i disagree with St John on when it comes to sales. His teachings re-affirmed a lot of of what I practiced in my sales career, and he explains the psychology behind why it works. St John is a really good communicator and there is not much filler in here, its a short book packed with value. I wish i had read this at the start of my sales career, it probably would have saved me a few mistakes!
How To Succeed In Rural Sales: Secrets & Psychology
This was the first book on sales I ever read, it is quite dated but has some great lessons. David Sandler does a great job of getting you to disassociate you personal worth to your results of you career and achievements. This is really useful if you struggle with feeling the pressure of closing a deal. I recommend this to anyone that is starting out in sales.
You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar
I read this book after seeing it recommended on a personal development video on you tube. Habit stacking was my favorite take away from the book, check it out!
Atomic Habits: Build Good Habits & Break Bad
Leadership
I bought this book on the recommendation of a mentor in my leadership journey and loved it. The author is a mindset coach for high performing organizations specializing in sports teams. He explains that since the dawn of time humans have survived by their ability to work together and that team work is our super power. This book has helped me understand how to empower a strong team to achieve their best and i would recommend it to anyone wanting to develop themselves as a leader.
Belonging: The Ancient Code of Togetherness
Leaders eat last is a must read for anyone either learning leadership, or struggling with it and wanting to improve. Simon uses some amazing stories from the US military like the marines in combat practicing leadership through service. This book was entertaining as well as informative, and the audio version narrated by Simon is so good, it wouldn't have been the same if they had an ai narrator.
Leaders Eat Last
I bought this book after listening to Jocko's Ted Talk and listening to a heap of his podcasts. I thought that i had listened to so many hours of his content the book would be full of stories i had heard already, i was wrong! The best thing about Extreme Ownership is how a detailed military combat story is used as an example of a leadership issue and how it was fixed. Then a story about a business going through the same problem is used and highlights the lessons learned i... Even if you have watched a lot of Jocko's content, you will still enjoy this book and get value from it!
Extreme Ownership: Navy SEALs Lead and Win
Before I read this book I thought the All Blacks were typical sports superstars with big egos. I didn't realize that stereo type is the exact opposite of reality. Legacy talks about the characteristics of a champion, a champion does extra, a champion sweeps the sheds, a champion is never too big for the small jobs.
Legacy
Another Masterclass by Simon Sinek. In this book Simon explains five essential practices a leader must follow to have an infinite mindset: - The courage to lead - Existential Flexibility - Have worth rivals - A Just cause - Trusting Teams
