Whether you love the sites or the food, Osaka has both to explore and more. It's the city I constantly go back to whenever I'm in Japan and its' close proximity to other towns/cities make day trips super easy.

Day 1: Arrive & Settle In, Explore Shinsekai
This is a relatively relaxing day in Osaka. Arrive here by mid afternoon and explore Shinsekai at night. There are many shops/eateries in the area and you can play arcade games.
Delicious takoyaki made fresh to order. Be careful, it is really hot, especially the inside. It's best to order it and wait 5 minutes before eating it. There are a few benches in front of the shop that you can use!
Fumichan Takoyaki
If you like fried food or tempura, this is meant for you! Batter is super light but is crispy. Everything can be fried: vegetables, starches, meats, it's a fried food lovers' dream!
Kushikatsu Shinsekai
Very local sushi spot. Order through numbers on a piece of paper and the staff will prepare your sushi water made to order!
Taiko Sushi
Beautiful at night, it is lit up with lights and there are many games you can play to try to win prizes.
Shinsekai Market
Tower in the middle of Shinsekai market. You can slide down from the top of the tower to the bottom. Haven't done this but have seen it all over IG. The tower is beautiful to see at night.
Tsutenkaku
Day 2: Day trip to Nara
Nara is known for it's playful yet aggressive deer in Nara Park. There are also some well known shrines and other sites that make it worth spending a full day there.
If you're looking for an intimate experience, this guided tour is the best!
Nara 6hr Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide
Todai-ji was built in the mid 700s and houses one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Japan. Truly a sight to see!
If you're interested in history, Hiroshima is a must visit as you get to see exactly where the atomic bomb was dropped and learn more about WW2 in the museums in the city.
Highly recommend taking this guided day trip to Hiroshima to learn more about the WW2 bombings and the affect on Japanese citizens at the time.
Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Trip from Osaka
If you're visiting Hiroshima yourself, make sure to visit the Peace Memorial Museum. It's a must-see!

Hiroshima is known for okonomiyaki and dor having a twist on the classic dish. It's a must get while in town!
Okonomimura
Day 4: Day Trip to Minoh Falls
One of my favorite day trips from Osaka. Immersed in nature, you get to explore Minoh Falls and Minoh Park. And I loved learning about darumas during my visit to Kataouji Temple.
Best day trip tour for Minoo if you're not interested in going yourself.
Osaka: Minoh, Katsuoji Temple, & Minoh Falls Full-day Tour
If you're heading there yourself, make sure to purchase the tickets for Katsouji Temple.
Gorgeous walk up to the falls with a possible extension to hiking all the way to Katsouji Temple.
Minoh Falls
Day 5: Half day trip to Kobe, Dotonburi at night
Kobe is one of my favorite towns in Japan, from the food to the shopping. Kobe is known for Akoya pearls and about 60-70% of the world's akoya pearls processing is done in Kobe!
If you're looking for more insight into Kobe, traveling with a guide is the best way to learn more about the town you're visiting.
Kobe 6hr Private Tour with Government-Licensed Guide
If you want to explore Kobe yourself, don't miss the Kobe Herb Garden and Ropeway, it is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon.

A nice tea and coffee shop along the way to the Ropeway garden.
Nishimura Main Store
The owner is so sweet and has a wide variety of Akoya pearl jewelry on white gold or 14K gold chains.

Mix of akoya pearls and freshwater pearls at this store. Their jewelry is beautiful!
Angely Jeweler
If you're a foodie, there are a lot of great eats in Dotonburi and Kuromon market. While you're there, snap a pic with the Glico man sign!

Day 6: Exploring the rest of Osaka
Known as the foodie capital of Japan, it's the reason I like making it my home base any time I'm in Japan. Take this tour to explore all the food that Osaka has to offer!
Osaka castle is beautiful and would highly recommend if you don't get to go to Himeji. If you go to Himeji, Osaka castle seems a bit smaller in comparison, but still worth the visit for the architecture.

Very unique shrine with the lion's head being the focal point of the shrine.
