Each year, I make a list of the 20 books that have been on my tbr forever and I would like to prioritize this year. These are the books (and series) I am prioritizing for 2026.
I have been deep into my romantasy era in 2025, but love a good fantasy series! I want to diversify my reading a bit more and this series has been patiently waiting on my tbr forever.
Red Rising
I read The Knight and the Moth last year and found it so charmingly written and unique. One Dark Window is a completed duology, and I am told it has a really unique magic system.
One Dark Window
I am yet to read anything by R.F. Kuang, but have many on my tbr… this one has probably been sitting there the longest, so I thought this would be a good place to start.
Babel
I know very little of this series except for the type that it receives online. I am excited to go into a series blind and not have any expectations of what I will be reading.
Binding 13
I have had this book recommended to me so many times throughout the years and actually just found a copy at the library book sale for $1!
The Glass Castle: A Memoir
I had a love/hate relationship with Zodiac Academy (Book 4 wtf?!?!) but really want to read some of the other series from the twisted sisters.
Never Keep
I have a bunch of Greek mythology inspired books sitting on my shelves, but this is the one I want to prioritize this year. I just need to wait for a time where I feel like sobbing uncontrollably I am told.
The Song of Achilles
Another completely duology that I hear nothing but praise for. I already have this on my Libby holds, so will be getting to this when the Libby Gods deem me worthy.
Heartless Hunter
I want to try out some new authors this year and I am yet to read anything from Jennifer Armentrout. This seems to be the most recommended series by her, so will have to see if it lives up to the hype.
From Blood and Ash
This series is always mentioned when you search for recommendations for finished series. Again, I love going to series blindly and forming my own things aside from the hype.
I am a huggeeee Kristin Hannah fan... The Nightingale is my everything.
The Women
Trying to work some nonfiction in this year and this one caught my eye.
The Age of Magical Overthinking: Notes on Modern Irrationality
Not gonna lie, Crescent City #1 was not my favorite. Now that I know that the series are interconnected, I am willing to give these another shot so I am not confused.
