Faber-Castell are my favourite brand of pencil to use. The quality is superb. You can purchase them individually or in sets.

Carbon pencils are a real treat to use. They combine the best qualities of graphite and charcoal. Precision work and rich, dark lines. And they don't have the smudging of charcoal.

Surfaces
The best surfaces to work on
Canson Bristol board is my favourite paper to use. Pure white and with a heavy weight feel, it's incredibly smooth and will produce wonderful details.

This is a wonderful heavyweight grey toned paper from Clairefontaine. I use this a lot for final charcoal pieces.
