If you really want your travel photos to stand out, you’ll need to make friends with your alarm clock. The best light happens when most people are still asleep. Early mornings bring soft, golden light, quiet streets, and the kind of peaceful scenes t...

And if you’re lucky enough to be near mountains, keep an eye out for alpenglow — that short-lived, pinkish light that hits the peaks just before sunrise or right after sunset. It’s nature’s way of saying, “You got up early? Good job — here’s your rew...

Don’t pack it in too early, either. Evening light is just as magical. The golden hour before sunset adds warmth and long shadows, while twilight and night bring out the glow of city lights, reflections, and stars. You’ll get a completely different mo...

Sure, you might lose a bit of sleep, but you’ll gain photos that no one else has. So brew an extra cup of coffee, set that alarm, and remind yourself that the best shots don’t happen between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. — they happen when you’re willing to tra...

Travel photos are best when they include you and your companions.

For the best scenic pictures buy post cards. For the best travel pic: Get in the picture.

When doing selfies, use the timer on your phone or camera, place yourself and others in the picture and these pictures will be ones to remember.

If you think you may need make up, take care of that before you embark and you won't have to pause when the best picture comes along!

If you don't happen to have one with you, you can use a table cloth, a newspaper whatever is light in color to reflect some light onto the face.

One more option is to use the flash on your camera or phone. This can fill in harsh shadows, too!
