Purple Star emoji 13 items
I've been a fan of farming simulation games for a long time, and was introduced to them thanks to the Harvest Moon series. These games are my personal favorite farming simulations, and ones that I keep going back to time and time again to escape the ...

No farming simulation list would be complete without mentioning Stardew Valley, one of the most popular games of all time.

The story is simple--you are burned out of the corporate world and move to Pelican Town after inheriting your grandfather's farm. From there the town is your oyster as you raid the mines, grow crops, befriend and romance villagers, and raise animals.

Dragon Quest is my favorite game series and I have absolutely loved their builders series. It could be a little bit of a stretch to call it a farming simulation but it DOES feature farming, crafting and building. This is one of my all time favorite g...

Harvestella is a blend of my two favorite genres: farming simulations and JRPGs. It follows a woman who has lost her memories. As you uncover her story, you'll farm, craft, cook, build relationships, and explore a vibrant fantasy world threatened by ...

I actually took a break from Harvest Moon (and Story of Seasons--its a long story), and this was my first game in either franchise in a while. I had a really great time with it, though it does have some bugs. I really enjoyed the diversity in the far...

The Rune Factory games are the perfect sweet spot between farming simulation and JRPG. The fourth installment was original released on the 3DS.

Rune Factory 4 Special follows a young adventurer who arrives in the fantasy town of Selphia and becomes its new ruler, balancing the responsibilities of running the town with farming, crafting, and building relationships with its quirky residents. O...

Steam

Steam has become one of the best way (if not the best) to play farming simulations on modern consoles.

This is easily one of my all-time favorite farming sims and for good reason. There's a lot to do, a fun cast of (fully voice acted!) characters, a charming town and a stellar story.

You play as Tara, a young woman who moves to a small island community to help her grandmother and discovers that she comes from a family of witches. You’ll farm, fish, craft, build relationships, and participate in village life while secretly learnin...

I've been playing Fields of Mistria since it was released in early access, and I can safely say it is comparable to Stardew Valley in a lot of ways (and even better in some), with a 90s magical anime twist!

Fields of Mistria is a cozy farming and life-simulation RPG where you restore a struggling village, grow crops, raise animals, fish, mine, craft, and build relationships with the townspeople. As you help rebuild Mistria, you’ll also uncover magical m...

I love the Doraemon franchise and this was a very satisfying farming simulation based in the Story of Seasons universe.

It follows follows Noby and his friends after they mysteriously arrive in the charming world of Natura, where they settle in and help restore a neglected farm. In the game, you'll grow crops, raise animals, explore the surrounding town, fish, catch b...

Roots of Pacha is a farming simulation set in the stone age. What I love about it is how well the fact its in the stone-age is integrated into the gameplay.

Over the course of the game, you'll discover "ideas," (I really like the unlock system), domesticate crops, befriend animals, and help your village grow.

Moonlight Peaks is a farming simulation set in a spooky world--afterall, you're the daughter of Dracula! I really enjoy the spooky aesthetics and the overall gameplay.

Playstation 4

The Playstation 4 is over ten years old and still going strong despite the PS5 being out for a while. It also has a wealth of great farming sims!

This was the very first Harvest Moon (or Story of Seasons) game I ever played, and my first PS2 game. I put a lot of time into it and was thrilled when it got ported over to the Playstation store.

It is a little bare bones but endearing all the same. It's perfect if you want a calm, atmospheric farming sim with multiple endings.

My husband got this game for me knowing I love monster catcher games and farming simulations and it checked both boxes! I had a ton of fun playing through this game. It is a little short which makes it great if you're looking for something shorter.

This is actually a remake of the GBA game friends of mineral town which is one of the most loved games in the series.

As in other games in the series, you'll farm, raise animals, fish, mine, cook, make friends, date/marry, and gradually improve the farm you now call home. The gameplay and characters really make this game something special.
