To clarify “petite” refers to any woman who is 5'4" or shorter. As a 5'1" woman, finding clothing that fits correctly can be a challenge. Most clothing in America is made for someone 5'7" or above despite the average woman being 5'4" or shorter. I've...

Athletic Wear and Athleisure
Petite friendly workout clothing brands.
I only discovered Athleta in the last few years but since then quite a few pieces have made it into my wardrobe. They do carry a specific petite line with a wide variety of styles. I've always tried regular sizes in some things and they tend to me pe...

I discovered Vuori only in the last year after hearing positive things about them and that their regular length actually worked for petites. I tried on a pair of performance joggers and was blown away by how soft they were and that they actually hit ...
It has become one of my favorite comfort and athletic brands since!
Vuori
Lululemon is considered a luxury athletic wear brand but their pieces are very well made and last a long time with no wear. The clothing is also quite friendly for petites!

Casual Wear
Where to find good casual wear as a petite.
I'm grouping American Eagle and Aerie together since they're under the same banner, just different styles. Both are petite friendly (mostly).
Teenage me never shopped at American Eagle (or Aerie) but adult me has made quite a few purchases over the years. They sell “short” in quite a few of their pants and I've been pleased with their jeans. Baggier styles generally don't look great (or ar...
I also love that they carry quite a few Snoopy items which I have happily filled my closet with.

I've been shopping at Loft for over a decade since they carry a pretty robust petite line! I have quite a few casual wear items in my closet from them, and they've stood the test of time pretty well. I've gotten everything from pants to shirts and dr...
About a decade ago they also acquired Lou and Gray (a brand I loved) and sell their clothing, which I can also highly recommend.
Loft
Old Navy has been rebranding itself in the last few years as a place for cheap clothing. Their petite lines are actually not bad and I've had luck with getting some of their athletic wear.
Old Navy
UNIQLO is a Japanese brand and prioritizes quality and making basic pieces. I've gotten a few things from them and been very happy with the quality. They do collaborations with Japanese companies periodically too such as Pokemon and manga artists.
One thing to note is some of their clothing can be looser so do recommend trying stuff on first.
UNIQLO
Professional and High End Brands
Clothing made to be worn into the office or professional events, or carry a higher price tag (these are sometimes one and the same).
Ann Taylor has been my go to for finding good professional wear since they have a dedicated petite line for suiting. They are the sister company to Loft as well.
I've gotten a few dress pants and blazers, nice tops as well as nicer casual wear from them through their petite line. Sometimes their regular clothing don't come in petite but depending on the size can work.

Petite Studio New York is one of the few dedicated petite brands in the United States. Their clothing fits perfectly as a petite and if something doesn't fit, their returns are super easy--they have great customer service support.
I've gotten a couple pieces from them and loved them all. The only caveat is a lot of their clothing (in my experience, I've mostly bought knit wear) is hand-wash only, so take that into account. They're also pricey, and I recommend waiting around fo...

Black House White Market has been a good go to for me when I need some new professional wear (like Ann Taylor). They carry regular sizes as well as petite sizes.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about Banana Republic. On one hand, they carry a pretty wide range of petites, on the other they've been having a brand identity crisis for a while. Are they casual or luxury? Right now they're team professional wear an...
I've gotten some decent clothing from them they have held up well. But, its hard for me to find styles I personally like. Others have the opposite experience.
