Nothing worse than a glow stick dying at 7:45 when you still have three more blocks. I burned through a lot of duds before landing on ones that actually hold up past bedtime.

Glow sticks are great but they die. These little LED clips run on batteries and I reuse them for dog walks, bike rides, and every Halloween going forward.

Some costumes just can't handle a bulky light clipped to them. Reflective tape saved my daughter's butterfly wings from looking ridiculous while still bouncing headlights back at drivers.

My rule is if the kid thinks it's a toy, they'll actually wear it. These double as both safety gear and something my kids actively wanted to put on.

I learned fast that if it looks like safety gear, my kid ditches it in the first five minutes. These look fun enough that they fought over who got which color.

Getting my kid to hold a flashlight was like asking them to carry a textbook on Halloween. These are shaped weird enough or fun enough that they actually wanted to bring them along.

Some neighborhoods have fast drivers and zero streetlights. I stopped caring about looking overprotective after we had a close call on a dark cul-de-sac two years ago.
