The frets on my guitar looked like they'd been dragged through a parking lot. Green oxidation, flat spots, zero shine. These are what turned them back into mirrors.

Some of my frets were so uneven the guitar literally could not intonate. Before you blame your strings or your tuner, check if your frets are level. Mine were not even close.

Polished frets mean nothing if your action is too high and your truss rod hasn't been touched since the Bush administration. These got my neck geometry back where it should be.

While the guitar was apart for fretwork, I figured I might as well clean a decade of skin oils, beer splashes, and mysterious sticky spots off everything else too.

After all that fretwork, putting old dead strings back on would be criminal. Fresh strings on polished frets felt like playing a completely different instrument. Not exaggerating even a little.
