I wasted forty bucks on a cheap light pad that couldn't shine through cardstock. These ones actually push light through marker paper and even some mixed media sheets without squinting.

Not all practice sheets are created equal. Some have lines too thin to see through a light box, others fall apart after three uses. These held up to repeated tracing sessions without turning into confetti.

Cheap tracing paper wrinkles the second a brush pen touches it. I ruined a whole afternoon of practice before finding paper that actually cooperates with water-based ink.

Some brush pens bleed so much that your traced letters look nothing like the guide underneath. These gave me crisp lines that actually matched what I was tracing.

Practicing for an hour hunched over a light box on a wobbly desk was destroying my back. A few changes to my setup and now I actually look forward to sitting down to practice.

My practice sheets were scattered across three drawers and a random folder under my bed. Getting organized meant I could actually find the right guide sheet in under ten seconds.

These weren't on my original shopping list but each one solved a small annoyance that was interrupting my flow. Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference in sticking with a habit.
