As a general rule, apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency. *Exceptions: retinoids are used at night and are best applied FIRST to clean, dry skin. Barrier creams (Avène Cicalfate, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast, or Bubble Barrier Cream) is last step to seal it at night, and sunscreen is last step to in the morning. A sample morning routine would be: Vitamin C serum, followed by a light mist of water to apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin, then a moisturizer or barrier cream if needed, and finally sunscreen. A sample nighttime routine would be: Retinol on dry skin, allowing it to absorb before lightly dampening the skin with water then and applying hyaluronic acid. Follow with a collagen or peptide cream, then finish with a barrier cream if needed.
