Activities I'd recommend when the usual dinner-and-movie plan has officially run its course.

Our Next Random Plan
I don’t need a perfect plan. I just want a plan neither of us has tried yet.
I’d pick this when we’ve done enough dinners and movies. We get to make something together, probably mess it up a little, and have a funny souvenir afterward.
Ceramics | Wichita, KS
This is my “let’s see how well we actually work together” plan. I like that there’s something happening the entire time, so the night never feels forced.
Best Escape Rooms in Indianapolis
I don’t need us to be competitive—I just want an excuse to talk trash, laugh at terrible shots, and grab a drink afterward.
Puttshack Houston | Upscale Mini Golf, Bar & Restaurant
I’d rather make dinner together once in a while than just keep going out for it. Plus, if we mess up the recipe, at least we get a good story out of it
Date Night Cooking Classes for Couples
This is one of my favorite “let’s just see where the day takes us” ideas. We get to explore somewhere new while basically turning eating into the activity.
Manila Food Tour: Introduction to Philippine Street Food
Neither of us needs to be artistic. Honestly, the worse our paintings turn out, the more fun I expect the night to be.
Painting to Gogh
I like this when we want something simple. Pick a neighborhood neither of us knows well, take ridiculous photos, find coffee, and see what we stumble across.
Photograph your neighborhood. It may surprise you
This is where I find out whether we're actually a good team or just two people confidently giving completely wrong answers.
Trivia Quizzes
No reservation, no dress code, no complicated plan. Just a good trail, something to eat, and hopefully a sunset worth staying quiet for.
Sunrise to sunset hikers on a sunset picnic hike
A Little Outside My Comfort Zone
Not dangerous. Just enough to make us nervous, laugh a lot, and have a story afterward.
I’d start here if actual skydiving feels like too much. Still intimidating enough to get the adrenaline going, but we’re not jumping out of a plane.
iFLY orlando | Indoor Skydiving
This is the one I’d pick when we need to get out of our heads and into the moment. Eight miles of river, plenty of splashing, and absolutely no checking our phones every five minutes.
Nantahala Outdoor Center
I know I’d hesitate before stepping off the platform—and that’s exactly why I’d want to do it. Two miles of zip lines with her sounds like a pretty good excuse to be nervous together.
Mountaintop Zip Line Tour
This is basically adult playground energy. I’d probably talk confidently beforehand and then immediately question every life decision once we’re 40 feet up.
Treetop Adventure Park + Zip
This might actually scare me more than the zipline. Getting on stage and making things up in front of strangers? Yeah, that’s outside my comfort zone.
Chicago Archives
If we're already going to push ourselves, we might as well make a whole day of it. River first, treetops after—and probably a very deserved dinner afterward.
Raft and Ropes: Rafting & Treetop Adventure Park Package
Not every comfort zone needs to involve heights. I’d give us a challenge: find the weirdest, coolest thing neither of us would normally buy—and actually take it home.
