Coastal walk from Merewether Baths up to Nobbys Beach. Ocean views, beaches, bathes along the way.
Bathers Way
The ANZAC Walk has ocean/cliff views, evocative memorial art & coastal panoramas. The longer memorial walk ties in Newcastle’s war history.

Port Stephens
New track from Tomaree Head at Shoal Bay to Birubi Point at Anna Bay. Beautiful coastline, lookouts, beaches, coastal headlands, forest. Great for doing in sections.
Tomaree Coastal Walk | NSW National Parks
Relaxed beachfront stroll. Great for combining with beach time.
Birubi Point to One Mile Beach walking track | NSW National Parks
Gardens featuring native plant species, some water views. Good if you want something easy, close, relaxing.
Fly Point Nature Reserve
From Soldiers Point to Salamander Bay, good mix of bush path & beach informally. Has signage about maritime history.
Mariners walk heritage trail
Maitland
Around Maitland Park — good for prams, easy walking or a short casual stroll. Features: playground, sports fields, pool nearby.
Maitland Park - My Maitland
Natural surroundings, birdlife, kangaroos often seen. Great for walking, nature, relaxing.
Walka Recreation and Wildlife Reserve
Walk past 28 historic sites: Maitland Gaol, Glebe Cemetery, Caroline Chisholm’s cottage, etc. Good for combining history + walking.
East Maitland Heritage Walk
Includes 11 sites: flood markers, historic buildings, old town markers. Good for learning local history and seeing the town.
Central Maitland Heritage Walk
Lake Macquarie
Lovely lake views, boardwalk (Red Bluff), plenty of spots to stop, cafés nearby. Good for families.
Warners Bay Foreshore Reserve
Scenic mix of foreshore + rainforest + views. Rocky high‑viewpoint lookout. Good variety.
Green Point Foreshore Reserve
Highest point in the Lake Macquarie region; great panoramas, especially towards Newcastle, Hunter etc
Mount Sugarloaf
Combines forest, creek crossings, boardwalks, lagoon & beach ends. Good mix of nature & challenge.
Glenrock Walking Trail
Hunter Valley
Great for birdwatching, wildflowers in spring, peaceful natural surroundings not too far from the vineyards.

Panoramic views over vineyards, forested country, That trig tower at the top, nice for ambitious walkers.
Pokolbin State Forest | On Country With Mick
Short rainforest/woodland track beside the creek, shady, good for a relaxed stroll.
