Coastal NC has some of the best fall festivals! These are a few of my favorites.
I am biased but Mumfest is my FAVORITE fall activity by far! New Bern transforms into the cutest fall hallmark town with mums everywhere, vendors, food, rides for kids, and different exhibits! So beautiful and so much fun!
Mumfest - New Bern
A waterfront festival?! Say no more! This three day festival has it all, food, activities for kids, educational exhibits, a boat show, fireworks and so much more! It takes place in October so it’s the perfect weather!

I LOVE a good trip to a market in the fall! These are some of my favorites!
A fall market is one of my favorite places to be! Biggers is SO cute! It’s large, has drinks if you wanted to ship and hang out, local produce, and pumpkins and mums!
Biggers Market - Wilmington
The friendly market is a must stop place in Morehead City! It has the best foods, local produce, and a HUGE nursery that has the most beautiful mums and pumpkins during fall!

Mikes farm is a must see in ENC. it’s such a cute spot that’s great for kids! Hayrides during the fall and pumpkins too. They have a restaurant onsite as well!

The cooler weather is the perfect time to do the activities you wanted to do in the summer but when it’s cooler! Different tours in the cutest coastal towns.
Shackleford Banks is known for its wild ponies! If you’ve been wanting to take a trip to see the ponies but haven’t wanted to deal with the heat, fall is the perfect time to do this tour!
Horse Tours on Shackleford Banks - Beaufort
Fall is a wonderful time to see the lighthouses of North Carolina! It’s cooler and more enjoyable and honestly nothing beats the beach in the fall. There are plenty of ferry/cruise options to get you to the lighthouse.
Cape Lookout Lighthouse - Harkers Island
Nothing says spooky season like a ghost tour and Eastern NC has some of the best (think black beard and pirates!)!! This tour has great reviews and is a good price point!
Wraiths & Wicked Whispers: Ghost Tour - Wilmington
Can you tell I love the wild horses of NC? This would be such a fun experience in the fall, especially if you go in the evening and catch a sunset! NC sunsets on the coast are one of a kind.
2-hour Outer Banks Wild Horse Tour by 4WD Truck - Corolla
A narrated boat tour in Wilmington! This one takes you to eagles island. You can do this boat tour and then head to the ghost tour after!
Eagles Island 50 minute Narrated Boat Cruise - Wilmington
Another ghost tour but this time in the Outer Banks! This one is in Manteo which is a super cute coastal town! Tour the town and hear the tales of the lost colony and Blackbeard!

It’s not fall without a visit to the pumpkin patch! different patches all over the coast.
Whites farm is a little bit of a drive from New Bern but it’s so cute! They have the best pumpkin patch, fall veggies, a corn pit for kids, a jump pad, and gem mining!

Garner Farms has a pumpkin patch and corn maze in the fall! They also have fresh produce and mums.
