Natural, Respectful Parenting Books

So many parenting books actually encourage a bit of parental bullying!  I've read a LOT of parenting books.  These are the ones that shaped how we treated our kids.  The bottom line is always: when this kid is 30, and he's looking back at how you treated him, is he going to want to be friends with you?  We're not quite to 30, but our oldest is 20 and so far, the answer is YES!

Hands-down my favorite parenting advice. The workshop is extremely helpful, if you can find it.  The book's a bit scattered, but persevere b/c the advice is life-changing.

I recommend this series with a HUGE caveat: I don't agree with their parenting advice.  We only used these to understand what was developmentally appropriate at various ages.

Kids really lose a lot when they're too tightly held and not allowed to learn to trust themselves.  They need to learn to solve problems on their own.
