We had fourteen pairs of shoes living on the floor like some kind of obstacle course. My toddler literally tripped over boots twice before I fixed this situation.

Coats were draped on every chair in the house. The dining table had become a coat rack. Something had to change before I lost it.

Standing on one foot trying to pull off boots while leaning against the wall was my nightly ritual. A bench changed the whole energy of walking in the door.

Our entry was basically a dark cave — nobody wanted to linger, so stuff just got dumped. Better lighting made people actually stop and put things where they belong.

Once the functional stuff was handled, a few small additions made me actually want to keep the space nice instead of letting it slide back into chaos.
