My favorite metal albums of 2025 in no particular order! I tried to have a good mix of genres in this list so hopefully there will be something for every metal fan here.
For any symphonic metal fans this is a must listen from 2025. I wasn't a fan of their last album so I was apprehensive but all my doubts were cast after listening to the first three songs.
Darkness Invisible by Mors Principium Est
I don't think this album was as strong as their previous, but still a great Deathcore album from 2025.
I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me - Album by Lorna Shore
I really enjoyed this album from Spiritbox. For any alternative/progressive fans this was a worthwhile listen!
Tsunami Sea - Album by Spiritbox
If you loved the original Doom(2016) soundtrack then just listen to the first song on this album and stick around for the rest it won't let you down.
Amen - Album by Igorrr
A melodic black metal band at the peak of their career with this album. Enjoyed the hell out of this one!
Tavastland - Album by Havukruunu
A solid Metalcore entry for one of the top albums of 2025
The Darkest Place I've Ever Been - Album by LANDMVRKS
This is a beautful album that I don't think many will appreciate on first listen. It's rythmic, slow, elegant, and ebbs and flows in its pacing. Truly a great album that will be a cult classic one day.
The Distaff - Album by Maud The Moth
If you want viking themed folk metal then look no further. Listening to any of their albums is like being dropped straight into the viking era.
Birna - Album by Wardruna
A great technical death metal album that I was listening to throughout the year.
Tooth and Nail - Album by Dormant Ordeal
This is my favorite folk metal album of the last couple of years by the veterans from Equilibrium. Consistent album that hooks you from the very first song!
Equinox - Album by Equilibrium
A great post-hardcore album that I keep coming back to at least once a month since release.
Abyss - The Final Chapter - Album by Annisokay
This album was on most everyones top albums list in 2025 and for good reason. A hard hitting thrash album that does not quit.
Dissonance Theory - Album by Coroner
My favorite technical death metal album of the year!
The Ossuary Lens - Album by Allegaeon
A symphonic death album that just oozes with talent.
