I went to Thailand for a week with my group tour. These are the places that I visited and my honest opinion of them.

Chiang Mai
Bangkok
A cool little spot for a can of coffee or Thai tea. Their Thai tea was yummy.
LOCAL BOYS COFFEE CO. SONG WAT
Cute little novelty shop on Songwat Road. I bought a nifty menthol inhaler (lost now 😢)
SAAN Songwat
A temple in Songwat with a big golden Buddha. It's got a hardcore hand-shaped carving with dragon heads next to the Buddha. You can check out the museum nearby.
Wat Trai Mit Witthayaram Worawihan
Known as the best fried oyster omelette shop in Bangkok. If you love oysters, go for it. I recommend getting fried omelette - it's banging, especially with sriacha. The crispy light texture helps me finish off the rather slimy, strong-flavoured oyste...
Nai Mong Fry Oyster
A small spot that sells mango & sticky rice. The box combo is 150 baht. Apparently it only opens for 5 months a year during mango season.
Pa Lek-Pa Yai Mango Sticky Rice
As my G Adventures leader would say, it's “cheap cheap”. I didn't have hot pot, just a standard menu. The food is overall good.
Texas Suki
Vibrant and packed with the overpowering smell of durian fruit, it has a lot to see. However, I would be wary about the street food, some of them have giant rats nearby.
Chinatown Bangkok (Yaowarat)
A nice-looking hotel in the middle of Chinatown. But its walls are thin and I was kept awake by a toddler screaming non-stop for half an hour.
Hotel Royal Bangkok
Definitely book a private boat tour along the river. There you can see the biggest golden Buddha in Thailand from the river.
Along The Klong | Bangkok boat tours
The temple with the reclining Buddha. The architecture and artwork is phenomenal.
Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan
A small “cheap cheap” cafe near Wat Pho with good food.
304 Café Tha Tian
Kanchanaburi/ Ayutthaya
A rafthouse resort along the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi. It has a nice pool with a slide and great food. Expect creepy crawlies in your rafthouse. You'll feel some movement in your rafthouse and hear rumbling noises as the water crashes underneath.
Pung-Waan Resort
A little piece of paradise. It's a park with seven different waterfalls. Expect to climb lots of stairs if you want to see all of them. The water is full of nibbling fish that eat your dead skin - very ticklish. Important: bring mosquito repellent, t...
Erawan National Park
Local restaurant in the Erawan Falls parking lot. Had a really nice ginger chicken curry and fresh mango smoothie there.
Erawan Falls - Restaurant No. 7
A well-researched museum about the railway built along the River Kwai by Japan's prisoners of war during WW2. Very fascinating bit of history.
Death Railway Museum and Research Centre
The famous bridge along the River Kwai, which was leftover from the war. Ngl, this was nerve-wrecking to cross. I saw many loose screws and some of the metal sheets shuffled under my feet. Still, a worthy piece of history to check out.
River Kwai Bridge
A hotel in the centre of town. Had a hearty fish meal in their restaurant, one of my favourite meals in the entire trip.
Good Times Resort
Features one of the most impressive gold Buddha statues. There's a spot nearby where you can purchase feed for the teeming fish.
Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan
The old temple ruins in Ayutthaya inspired by Angkor Wat.
Wat Mahathat
Great “cheap-cheap” restaurant in Ayutthaya. I recommend their red curry.
Sikram Thai Restaurant - Ayutthaya
Chiang Mai
One of the most ethical elephant sanctuaries you can find in Thailand. I could tell the elephants were happy and healthy there. We got to feed them and join them in their bathing pool. There were clothes and souvenir shops in the area, as well as a w...
Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary | Chiang Mai
Nice hotel at the heart of Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai Gate Hotel
Food glorious food!
Chiang Mai Gate Market
Best massage place you can find in Chiang Mai. Nearly everyone in my group went there after I told them to go. I spent roughly £30 for a head, feet and oil massage combo.
Antique Massage Chiangmai
We went there as part of the cooking class to check out the fresh produce. The smells are heavenly there. I bought two packs of Thai curry there.
Siri Wattana Market
For 1,100 baht, you cook three different meals with the freshest ingredients. I cooked khao soi (Chiang Mai noodles), green curry (my favourite) and basil stir fry. Make sure you come into the class hungry, because you'll be eating all of that food i...
Classic Home Cooking
One of the most established jewellery stores in all of Thailand. The first thing you do when you enter the shop is watch a video about the gem production so that you know everything is legit. You see the goldsmiths at work then you enter the official...
GEMS GALLERY Chiangmai
A well established silk factory and shop. You see the women at work, extracting the silk from the worms, then weaving clothes. Average price for a silk shirt would be around £30. If my luggage wasn't so full I would have bought more.
Thai Silk Village Co.,LTD.
I think this is Chinese owned. The merchants are persistently effective salespeople. I originally wanted to get a second jade elephant figurine and a tiger's eye bracelet and they offered a Burmese jade bangle for half its price. The bangle was the m...
ร้าน สยามกิ๊ฟ House Of Jade
If you want souvenirs but are on a budget this is the place to go. There are so many markets, it can be overwhelming. There are plenty of food spots and bars too.
Night Bazaar Chiang Mai
A giant mall near the airport. There's a great food court on the lower level where I had a scrummy Tom Yum lunch and bought some interesting Thai desserts.
Central Chiangmai Airport
One of the most extraordinary temples in Thailand. Sadly it's not for the ladies. Yeah, only men can enter the temple. -_- There's a little stall where you can buy silver merch, hand-crafted by the monks. I bought a couple of silver bookmarks.
Wat Sri Suphan - Silver Temple
A lush, quiet hotel with a swimming pool located right outside the suites. My room wasn't by the pool but it was still luxurious. The doors are large and ancient-looking. You need to use a padlock to seal your room, which is rather fiddly. And don't ...
The Chaya resort and spa
Another lovely massage parlour, this time it was facial. The first time I ever slept in the middle of a massage. My face was practically glowing afterwards.
