I enjoy reading and I am always seeking out books to add to my TBR (to be read) list. Here are my top books from last year.
Shortlisted for the woman's prize, I adored this gently funny but emotional story of parenthood.
Soldier Sailor
This book sat intimidating me on my bookshelf for about 4 years before I read it. A Russian classic for a reason, also check out The Heart of a dog.
The Master and Margarita
Another woman's prize shortlisted book! I will add more detail.
Enter Ghost
I saw Marina Abramović's surprise performance at Glastonbury and was bewitched by her. Her autobiography is a must read.
Walk Through Walls: A Memoir
I'd read anything Annie Ernaux writes. This is a short moving account of her mother’s experience with Alzheimer’s.
I remain in darkness
The late great Bourdian shares greatly detailed stories of his times in various kitchens that make you feel like you're right there on the line with him.
Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly
I would suggest reading 'the satsuma complex' first as this is the follow up. A wickedly amusing book by one of my favourite comedians.
