The whole reason I started this hunt. My coat closet doubled as a shoe closet and guests could smell it from the hallway. These hanging options solved it without taking up any floor space.

Deodorizing the closet is only half the battle. If the shoes themselves are funky, the smell just comes right back. I learned this the hard way after a humid summer.

Sometimes a sachet isn't enough, especially in small enclosed spaces with no airflow. After my coat closet experiment, I went looking for something with a little more muscle.

Piling shoes on the closet floor was my biggest mistake. No airflow means moisture gets trapped and everything ferments. Switching to open racks cut the smell problem in half before I even added deodorizers.

Realized halfway through this experiment that smell and moisture go hand in hand. Once I tackled the humidity inside the closet, the deodorizers worked twice as well.

After all this work on my closet, I finally admitted that maybe my feet were part of the problem. Addressing foot bacteria made everything else work ten times better.

All these products work best with a quick weekly reset. Takes me five minutes every Sunday. The closet hasn't smelled bad since I started this routine three months ago.
