Size 22 is the go-to for 13-mesh canvases (the most common beginner size). They’re big enough not to split thread, but still slide through the canvas easily.

These make stitching way easier by keeping your canvas tight + flat. They’re basically like training wheels for beginners, but pros still use them too.
Stretcher Bars
Holds the canvas onto the stretcher bars. (Tip: don’t be afraid to hammer them in!)
