This is what I found useful while going through labor
Helped keep me cool when I was sweating and extremely hot while contracting. Really liked the flexible prongs to attach to bed. Also used while recovering on the maternity ward.
AMACOOL Battery Operated Stroller Fan
A tumbler of some sort to be able to stay hydrated with ice cold water the entire time. The nurse or my husband would fill it up for me throughout labor.

I used 3 throughout labor, they would fall out and I would get a new one. Most needed to keep hair out of your face and neck.

Did not like the bottle at the hospital. Thankful I brought my own. This was much easier to use

Bring your own blanket and pillows. The hospital pillows are super thin and uncomfortable and they give you a sheet or two and I was cold before bringing out my blanket.
Blankets And Pillows
One thing I wish I brought were towels from home. The hospital ones were slightly bigger than a hand towel and it was hard to get dried off after my shower.

I wore slippers while walking around the room and the maternity floor. Easier than putting on shoes and comfy.

My own toiletries to shower and brush teeth. Sometimes, other products can give me a reaction and having my own to shower made me feel better and more refreshed.

Your own snacks! Bringing my favorite snacks made recovery easier knowing I was eating after going through labor and establishing breast feeding.

Your own night gown with buttons in the front. The hospital gowns are annoying especially trying to breast feed. This also made me feel like I was starting to get back to normal.

Your own socks! They ones they give you at the hospital were awful

For baby
Bring one newborn size and one 0-3 month size. Not knowing how big or small the baby will be, it was useful having different sizes to bring her home in. You do not need a ton, I had her wrapped up in a blanket the whole time.

Not needed, but it was nice getting a few photos to announce her to the world!

I used a cute swaddle set to use with her announcement!
Swaddle Sets - Blanket with Matching Hat or Headband
She was born in the winter, so having something to protect her from the cold on her car seat was very useful!
