My favorite local restaurants if you’re in the Midwest City, Del City, Tinker Air Force Base area outside of Oklahoma City. I’ve lived in the area on and off since the 90s, and these have stood the test of time.
Didn’t include any of the chains on 1...

On My To-Try List
Really Local
You’re only going to find these here in town, usually run by a family.
A local favorite, you’ll get excellent sandwiches and service. The house sauce is good on everything, and I usually get it on the side of The Carousel. Only open for weekday lunches.
Napoleon Deli
This has been the go-to Greek restaurant for my family since the early 2000s. Great gyros and fries, and I could drink the tzatziki. They use cucumber spears instead of slices and that somehow elevates things so much. You won’t be wowed by the locati...
Akropolis Greek Restaurant
1
The friendliest staff, free chips and queso setup, and most of the time when we go there is rodeo on tv.
Los Vaqueros
The London Fog, Mexican Hot Chocolate, and Chocolate ice creams we got were incredible. They even came with cute color changing spoons that my kids loved. My husband had an apple spiced cheesecake slice to-go 💯. We didn’t try them, but there were a ...
Scoop House and Bakery
This place is like a revived ghost of an old Del Rancho, but it came back better. There is a Del Rancho not far from here and I’d choose Chuck’s every time. The steak sandwiches are big and not chewy, sides are excellent, and I’ve gone back solely fo...
Chuck’s Steak Sandwiches
My coffee snob husband and his somehow even more intense coffee snob brother almost exclusively get coffee here (if they haven’t roasted their own beans, or gone to downtown OKC for the bougier places)- they like the cold brew and the drip, obviously...
Open Flame Coffee Company + Roastery
Donuts over by the original Crest and the old Heritage Park Mall. They might sell out, so head there early.
Holliday Donuts
A Midwest city childhood staple. Open during the summer and occasionally on a warm day in the cold months. Check their Instagram!
Tasty Snow
Yum. They’re not open a lot, I think only weekday lunches. It’s worth the trip! Unfortunately, they don’t have their shepherds pie anymore, but I’ve literally never had a bad meal here. They’ve even got a little toy kitchen set up for kids.
CREPERIE & EUROPEAN CAFE
Metro Area Chains
M-Dubb and Del City have finally gotten some of the good OKC chains. They might have more hours or locations to check out.
This is more of a recommendation from my husband. He loves Jimmy’s Egg. They have something called a “garbage breakfast.” The food is good, but it’s going to be a greasy breakfast diner vibe.
Jimmy's Egg
This is not a cool, underground rec. But! They have good burgers and salads.
Bricktown Brewery
Great place to take a kid. My 3 year old is obsessed with the cardboard car his burger comes in.
Boomarang Diner
On My To-Try List
Using my list as a place for me to write down the places I want to try! I either heard about these from friends or it keeps coming up online.
Over by where I grew up, but I haven’t made it to that side of town for dinner in a while. Only heard great things!
TEZ WINGZ
Heard about it for years, still need to swing by!
Korean B-Won Restaurant
Shopped here a couple of times but I’ve never had the sort of famous food. It shows up on every foodie list in town.
OK KO-Mart Oriental Foods
It feels almost criminal that I grew up in Midwest city, went to church 3 times a week in Del city, and I have never eaten here.
