Here's a list of apps and sites I'm regularly using as someone with a reading addiction. Note: I have been moving away from supporting big corporations and finding businesses that support diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Reading Apps

If you want to read for free, utilize your library and sign up for advanced reader copies (ARCs). Here are the apps, aside from the typical Kindle, Books, and Play Books, that I use to read.

Great way to read and listen to books from your local library. This is one of my top reading/ listening apps.

Just double check with your library if they are connected to Libby. Some libraries don't use Libby and have other apps to read from.

Check with your local library if they are connected to hoopla.

I tried to use this app awhile ago and didn't like it. Since then, I've heard so many great things, such as no wait when it comes to books, unlike Libby.

If you're wondering how people are getting advanced reader copies of books, this is how!

Authors and publishers use Netgalley to promote books. You have access to a ton of books before they are released to help build awareness of the books. Especially when it comes to independent authors, make sure to leave a review on popular sites to h...

Personally, I use Libby more often but this is another great resource.

In my area, we have two types of libraries. One of which is not connected to Libby but they use Cloudlibrary.

Indie authors typically use this app to give their readers ARCs. Just make sure you are signed up for their newsletter and pay attention to when they offer ARCs.

Audiobook app comparable to Audible.

You have the option to sign up for a subscription for $15 (I'm rounding up) a month for 1 credit or just purchase your audiobooks here.

What's amazing about Libro.fm is that you are supporting an independent bookstore and just small bookshops in general. You even have the option to specifically select a book store that you love or is local to you to support. It's at no extra cost to ...

They don't have a large library just yet BUT the more we support this site the larger the library will get.

Shopping for Books

No more Amazon, Target, Walmart, and B&N! Instead find your local bookshops, purchase directly from your favorite authors, or find independent online stores.

If you're not familiar with Bookshop, YOU NEED TO CHECK IT OUT! This is a great way to order books online (and now they've just added ebooks!!!) while also supporting independent bookstores. You even have the option to select a specific bookshop to s...

Bookshop offers a great selection of books minus some independently published authors.

If you're looking for audiobooks this is your app!!! It is the sister company to Bookshop.org so when making a purchase, you can specifically select an independent book store to support.

Obviously, not every audiobook can be found on this app BUT if I'm not using Libro then I'm using Libby.

If you're looking for diverse romance reads then make sure to check out this small bookshop. Now with two locations in Florida.  There is also a subscription box option that is worth checking out.

Reading Trackers and Book Clubs

These apps are ones that I've enjoyed using for tracking my reading. My top app would be Story Graph. They are also great for hosting book clubs.

Fable is great for tracking what you read. But it's also great for book clubs and so much more!

Say goodbye to Goodreads!

I've used this in the past. It offers you the ability to add books to a wish list, vote on what book you want to read next, set up meeting times, and make notes/ comments on the book.

Book Subscriptions

Book subscription boxes that support small businesses and diverse authors.

I love this book box! It supports authors and small businesses from underrepresented communities.

The box focuses on romance books with products that emphasizes self-love.

eReader and Accessories

Finally getting an eReader and some accessories is such a GAME CHANGER! I thought I was fine reading from my phone until I was gifted an eReader. Now I don't think I could ever go back to reading on my phone. Here's what I use and ABSOLUTELY LOVE!

This is the eReader that I have and love so far!

The Color isn't all that necessary but I love to annotate my books with different color hi lights.

This is the eReader stand I currently use. I don't have a bed frame that allows me to use a stand like the other linked in this list.

I actually enjoy this one because I can move it around with me.

Next up on my list for luxurious reading is a remote.

If you've never used one before, it sounds ridiculous but TRUST ME! It makes reading so much more convenient.

This is the remote I have for my Boox Go Color 7 and works perfectly.

If you are a scroller instead, I believe you can get the remote that scrolls instead. I prefer to turn the page so I got this remote.

After a lot of digging around to find a good option for an eReader, I found this company.

I wanted an eReader that allowed me to use various reading apps and not exclusively Kindle.

Boox has various sizes and utilizes the Android system via Google Play. You can easily download apps that can be found in the google app store.

This is next level reading. Get yourself a stand so you don't have to hold your eReader while you're binging a series.
