First Watch has potatoes, omelettes, fruit, and gluten free bread! This location is a great one but the parking can be a pain - heads up! But ti's worth it!
First Watch
Affectionately known as 'The Worm' to anyone local, the Drunken Worm is a Mexican restaurant with an amazing brunch (and an impressive selection of tequila). As of writing this (July 2024), it recently was taken over by new management, and I haven't ...
The Drunken Worm
The Shack has gluten free pancakes. And they are GOOD. They do contain butter, which is not my favorite fact. They also, as of the last time I was there, have any dairy free milks for their coffee, which is a bit odd to me ... it's 2025 y'all. Howeve...

Louie's Wine Dive has amazing breakfast and brunch! Their wine selection is also divine. I've only been there at brunch so I cannot speak to other mealtimes and menus, but I have never left hungry and have always been accommodated without issue.

A small local coffee shop that is right next to a board game store! Urban Prairie is super cute and super tasty. They have plenty of dairy free milk options (almond, oat, coconut milk) and make a great latte. The street they are on has a lot of cute ...
Urban Prairie Coffee
My favorite coffee in KC! The Black Dog makes an incredible latte (oat and almond) and they have a great menu, too. There isn't a ton of specialty gluten free stuff, but you can get basic breakfast (eggs, bacon, etc) and you are safe. The baristas ar...
Black Dog Coffeehouse
This is a cute little shop with a chill atmosphere and always a kind barista. It's great - no complaints! Parking lot is only a couple spaces - but it's on the corner of a residential street that you can park on so it's no big deal! Obviously they ha...
Filling Station Coffee I Johnson Drive
Mildred's!!!! Go there!!!! Coffee! Drinks! Foods! Downtown! Cute and fun! Seriously it is delicious and super cute and dairy free friendly (oat, almond). Food is going to require some accommodations for GF - but you can still get a meal.

They have GF pancakes - nuff said. They do say they are ‘GF Friendly’ - always ask about protocol first. I have my own risk standards!

succotash is a cute little place that has great food and coffee! It's unique as well which is always nice to go somewhere very very local!
Succotash Kansas City
Once again … I sound like a broken record - great coffee, cute spot. Fun fact - Black Dog Coffee and Filling Station (also on this list) makes their coffee using beans they buy from Messenger coffee! Messenger has oat and almond milk as alternatives.
Messenger Coffee Company
This cafe is SO cute and they have worked so incredibly hard to get where they are. They make incredible coffee! Oat is their only dairy free option that I am aware of!
Cafe Cà Phê - Kansas City's First Vietnamese Cofee Shop
ANY of the Made in KC Marketplace locations are going to be amazing - I just happen to have most coffee experience at the Plaza location! Dairy alternatives are almond and oat
Made in KC Marketplace - Plaza
The Roasterie is a KC CLASSIC. The location in Brookside is pretty busy - you will find everyone from the older men chit chatting for hours to the law student studying for class to a bible study to a family just on an outing with the kids. It's reall...
The Roasterie Brookside Café
Crows was my GO-TO SPOT in law school. It's right across the street from UMKC school of law (and the rest of UMKC campus) so you can always expect to see a lot of students there! Their coffee is seriously so good. I spent a lot of money there and I r...
Crows Coffee | South Plaza
We LOVE Snooze. Great coffee, great service, and great food and options for a GF/DF diet.
