Classics

Like any genre, some are winners and some simply are not. Though I will alwaysss finish a book I start, I won't recommend a classic simply because it's a classic. I'll be the judge!!!

Shirley Jackson. Absolute icon. My fave from her is We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

I always have to throw in a classic or two. This is the actual cover I have and it's just beautiful. I always want to read it in the fall or winter and just haven't gotten to it yet.

This is the cover I have as well. Another classic. I'm an English major who's never read The Yellow Wallpaper? Absurd.

Literary Fiction

My personal fave genre. It's giving classic but gentler. We can relate on a deeper level. I love collecting gorgeous snippets of writing and trying to understand very complex characters/ relationships.

Really hopeful I'll get to this one, but not entirely sure. I don't think my life will ever be SO good that I will read this one without it ruining me.
A Little Life

A bit of a random one that I thrifted because I couldn't stop looking at the cover and title. This one is a memoir, but sticking it in Lit Fiction since its the only one lol.

Magic Realism

Growing into a favourite genre for me. On top will always be The Time Traveler's Wife as well as Lonely Castle in the Mirror. Trying to replicate those vibes at all cost.

I've heard mixed reviews on this one, but it looks very cozy. This is part of my journey of trying to find books that remind me of one of my favourites, Lonely Castle in the Mirror.
Before the Coffee Gets Cold

This is another one that I want to read in my pursuit of finding a book similar to Lonely Castle in the Mirror.
What You Are Looking For Is in the Library

Thrillers

Look, I love a good thriller. I even love a bad thriller. They're fun, high stakes and easy to read when you're in a slump.

This one was from my mom's book collection. When she got rid of everything, I saved some books and this was one of them. We loveee a good thriller.
Now You See Her - Joy Fielding

Good to throw in a classic thriller moment. These are always quick and easy to read.
Sharp Objects

Comedy

I love to throw in a silly, funny book or two to round out a TBR. In 2024, this was Where'd You go Bernadette?

This is a silly one that's been on my TBR for as long as I can remember. I thrifted a copy and it's been sitting on my shelf, so I'm excited to get to it.
