Sourdough Starter
Sourdough starter is a fun and distracting process. However, these are my recommendations of what you’ll need to get you started going :)
Â
Large jars for a larger starter. I recommended having at least two jars to swap between every three or four days.
Weck Tulip 1L Jars - 2 Wide Mouth Glass Lids
Â
This is another great starter kit. I love the spatula it comes with!
Premium Pro 40oz Sourdough Starter Kit
Â
You will need all purpose flour as well, but this is the bread flour I’ve used and it’s been working great for my personal sourdough starter!
King Arthur Premium Semolina Flour, 3 lbs
Â
I HIGHLY recommend getting silicone tools when dealing with your starter. It makes the clean up SO much easier in my opinion.
Tovolo Mini Scoop & Spread Tool, Silicone
Â
I enjoy storing my flours and grains in airtight containers so I know my items remain fresh. It’s also much easier to scoop out flour on the daily while you’re activating your starter.
Airtight Flour/Grain Container
Sourdough Baking
Once your starter is ready to be baked with, you’ll need almost all of these items. You should be able to skirt by with a few, but I do think it’s worth it to get some type of Dutch overnight rather than “creating your own”

Silicone bread sling for your Dutch oven
Silicone Bread Sling
Â
This kit has everything you need to prep your dough AFTER you have an active starter. You will still need a Dutch oven.
Sourdough Proofing Basket Kit 9" & 10"
Â
Truly such a cute Dutch oven. They had plenty of colors to choose from and two separate sizes.
Crock Pot 5Qt Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Â
Once I baked with this flour, my sourdough loaf THRIVED!
Bread Flour
Â
There are so many options on Amazon, but this is a must to get your dough mixed and shaggy.
Danish Dough Whisk
Â
Another option for the whisk! This one does come with a silicone scrapper which can be helpful to get your dough out of the bowl.
Danish Dough Whisk WITH Scraper
Â
These are SUPER handy. You do want your dough to ferment covered without losing moisture. These are reusable and easy to slip over your bowl.
Elastic BPA-Free Bowl Covers
Â
I love these! They keep my bread more fresh and I waste less plastic. AND THEY’RE WASHABLE!!
2-Pack Reusable Beeswax Bread Bags Navy Bloom
Â
Super cost effective AND cute option for a bread cutter to make your cute designs! I find this one easier to hold instead of the vertical stick option.
Bread Lame Cutter
Â
This was this first score tool I used, but I find the smaller one easier to hold (personal opinion). Both options are cost effective :)
