All of these would be great places to either go to by yourself or with your kids. Either way you will enjoy these.
I absolutely love getting my fresh fruit and vegetables from this place. I know it is all grown right there. Their little petting zoo is the perfect size for little ones.
Scheeringa Farms & Produce
You absolutely must go here at least once during the fall. I love their apple picking, petting zoo, and hayrides. Also they have the best cider and apple donuts. Just yummmm.
County Line Orchard
This is so awesome to take older kids to or even you and your partner. Its so peaceful to walk the horses around the lake.
Shilo Ranch
Absolutely beautiful to walk through and take their many different trails. While there do not forget to check out the train exhibit. It is truly amazing.
Gabis Arboretum
The dunes are just amazing to go to especially if you want to hike on some trails. You can definitely get a workout in. Or you can take the kids to the lake and just relax on the sand.
Indiana Dunes - National Park Service
I would hope that everyone who lives in Northwest Indiana has been to the waterpark at least once. The lazy river is my personal favorite.
Deep River Waterpark
Hiking here is completely free. Such a peaceful place with many different trails.

El Poblano Mexican Restaurant
This place is absolutely delicious. Their steaks are perfect. I have tried many different entrees and have never been disappointed yet.
BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse
Absolutely delicious food and who doesn't love a good hibachi grill
Wu's House
Such a great family restaurant with amazing food. Their salmon and steak is delicious.
Station 21 American Grill
This place has just some amazing breakfast and lunch. Its always so hard to decide what I want because everything there is just so good. The staff is super friendly as well. Makes you feel at home.
Brothers Breakfast & Lunch
This place makes you feel like you are at your grandma's house for breakfast. The waitresses are just all super friendly and have been there forever.
Corner Cafe
This place is takeout only but they have some of the best pizza around. Make sure to call an hour before you plan on picking it up because that is normally how long it takes but its worth it especially the stuffed pizza.
