We had the opportunity to visit New Orleans again this summer for my little brothers wedding and though I nearly melted into the sidewalk from the heat, we had an amazing long weekend. This list started on Google Maps, a way for Fred and I to share o...
This isn't an exhaustive list, just some of the new and tried and true spots in our favorite city in the south (and that say's a lot about me, being from Alabama and all). For four days we ate, drank, and filled our bellies and souls up as much as we...

I fell in love with Ayu the moment we walked in the door. The interior is such a beautiful and striking contrast to the exterior the building, and the smell, good lord. Everything we had was delicious, from the lattes to the egg salad, and I urge you...

Do not skip a coffee and pastry from Willa Jean. Even better? Stay for brunch. Thank me later.
Willa Jean
If it’s a Saturday morning, you’ll find us having brunch at Molly’s Rise and Shine. You may have to roll us home after so we can sleep it off, but it’s so, so worth it.
Molly's Rise and Shine
Inside Hotel Peter and Paul you'll find the Elysian Bar. It opens at 7am with coffee and pastries and resets in the afternoon to reopen for dinner and drinks. It was lovely, and the dinner menu was perfect for us the night we arrived — their menu rotates, so if you see pasta on it, don't hesitate.
The Elysian Bar
Who Dat Cafe is just down the block from Hotel Peter & Paul and opens early — which is perfect for us as sometimes the hotel room coffee maker just won't cut it. The cafe is eclectic and charming, and the staff were incredible.
Who Dat Coffee Cafe
Lunch + Snacks
A solid lunch choice if you’re in the mood for a sandwich to grad and go.
Turkey and the Wolf
Who doesn't want award winning tacos for lunch? Barracuda bills itself as a “neighborhood taco stand and margarita garden” — it didn't disappoint.
Barracuda Taco Stand
This French Vietnamese-style cafe and bakery was a perfect pit stop as we were exploring the city. The Salt & Pepper Friend Shrimp Báhn Mì was perfect for a Friday afternoon.
Elizabeth Street Cafe
Do not be a snob and try the hot dog. I hadn't had a hot dog in probably ~10 years and Fred convinced me to pop into this place. The vibe? Dive. The food? Delicious.
Dat Dog
Red Dog was a spot we stumbled upon and were grateful to have done so. After hot dogs and tacos and beer, seeing more healthy options on this menu was refreshing to say the least. The Mediterranean Nosh Plate was piled high with olives and the portio...

Mahjong night. Need I say more? Fine, I will. This place is such a vibe. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere hits you — it's dimly-lit, sultry, sexy, and effortlessly cool. I'll be back for every visit to Nola.

You will see N7 on almost every list for New Orleans, and it's for good reason. I think I found it in a NYT list when planning our trip, and it lived up to the hype.
N7
Though the name reminds me of Dirty Dancing and I have no idea if there's any relationship there, Hungry Eyes was a bright and inviting little lounge, and a great spot for dinner with the girls.
Hungry Eyes
When saw that the restaurant was Nominated for a James Beard Awards 3x, it jumped to the top of the list of dinner spots to try when we were in town. The menu is small but throws punches, exactly what a good menu should do.
SAFFRON NOLA
I read that Saint-Germain won a Michelin Star after we were in town, so I can't speak to your likelihood to get a table now they've won the award. That said, if you can get a table, you should LEAP at the opportunity.
Croquette is an adorably trendy chandelier-hung place full of Southern Charm.
Coquette
When traveling, I often find myself feeling at home in an Irish-style pub, and The Bell was no exception. The perfectly styles irreverent interior was welcoming, and the Scotch Egg? I could've eaten 2.
The Bell
Though the plates may be small, they're delicious. Saba's take on Middle Eastern food is anything but simple. I was left thinking about the hummus for days.

Hotels
Once a convent and catholic school and now an extremely charming, beautifully decorated, and wonderfully comfortable boutique hotel near Frenchman Street. My only wish about this hotel is that wish that we could have stayed a few extra days.
Hotel Peter and Paul
This is a luxurious boutique hotel that is on my short list for our next visit so I felt appropriate to ad it here. Everything I've seen and read about Hotel Saint Vincent sounds like a dream.
Hotel Saint Vincent
Don't knock it just because it's in the French Quarter. Though I usually stay in the Garden District, this french-style court yard has caught my eye more than once, and she too is on the short list for next time.
Hotel Mazarin

I found Magazine Street a bit of a Wonderland. It was the perfect balance of history, culture, people-watching, and window shopping. You can't go wrong starting here when you don't want to pay for a tour or another ticket.
Literally just walk along Magazine Street
This gallery was on my brother's MIL's list of places to see, and as a former art school girlie, I went along with her. The work is STUNNING. Though it may look like paintings on the screen, everything is embroidered and seems glow from within. It's ...
So it wouldn't be a trip to New Orleans without going to find some oddities. If you've not stopped by the discover everything within The Hidden South, you should be sure to stop by next time.
The Hidden South: Art, Oddities, & Antiques
Why not go get lost in a vintage book store? Do it, lady.
Dauphine Street Books
Yes, it's another Art Museum. No, I won't apologize for continuing to recommend them.
Ogden Museum of Southern Art
I love an independent bookstore with a curated selection. If you're not shopping local when you travel, I am judging you.
Octavia Books
This independent record shop is full of new and used vinyl, CDs, and often even has live music. You can't miss the hot-pink storefront on Charters Street.
Euclid Records New Orleans
Be warned, there's no air conditioning, but that only adds to the atmosphere. Preservation Hall is a temple of Jazz, appropriate for all ages, and celebrates the culture of New Orleans that is so so much more than Bourbon Street and Cafe du Monde
