Sylvan Lake
The Sunday Gulch Trail runs behind Sylvan Lake and is a great trail for hiking. There are large steps and steep rocks on one side, so you need decent knees to hike this trail. This trail is closed in the winter due to the ice.

Roughlock Falls is a unique waterfall are in the Spearfish Canyon that has pools you can wade in at the top of the falls. You can drive to this area or you can hike a trail to the falls. The road is closed in the winter.

We have stopped here frequently over the years and it's a favorite place of ours in the warmer months. You can feed the fish at the hatchery and tour some of the older buildings and fish transport train car.
D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery
This is a fun hike to a wading pool with a natural water slide. This does get really busy on summer weekends, so we avoid going here on the weekends when it's warm outside.

Another Black Hills classic that's been a staple for years, Dinosaur Park is a fun place to take kids to see life-sized statues of dinosaurs and great views of Rapid City, and the park is free for visitors.

One of my favorite small restaurants in Rapid City! The lunch special oko bun with the furikake salad is a favorite. This restaurant was also featured on Guy Fieri’s TV show.
Bokujo Ramen
Great place for unique dishes, and they have a nice view of the creek in Spearfish. They rotate their menus seasonally as well.
The Farmhouse Bistro
One of our favorite places to eat in Spearfish when we travel here. Our favorite item is the Korean fried chicken, so good! They do sometimes have peanut items on the menu so be aware of this if you have peanut allergies.

Just had breakfast and coffee here and it’s fantastic! Great bacon and fruit bowl, they also make oat milk lattes. Their coffee is delicious and roasted very well, not burnt tasting at all. Highly recommend!
