Practice Field Essentials
We are managing a team of 12 kids. There is only so much you can teach at practice - we have learned to make practices with splitting up zones, scrimmages and fine tuning work. Here is what we have and wishlists we’re hoping to get.
Of all the ones we have tried - this was the fastest and easiest to set up. I can do it by myself too.
GoSports 7ft Baseball & Softball Practice Net
Easiest set up plus I love the additional pockets for pitching practice!
GoSports 7 ft x 7 ft Baseball & Softball Practice Hitting & Pitching Net with Bow Type Frame
A learned-the-hard way moment - we have gone to baseball fields for practices and it’s difficult when dugouts don’t come with bat compartments. Here’s an quick fix for that!
GoSports Baseball & Softball Bat Caddy - Clips onto Dugout Fence or Mounts on Wall - Holds 16 Player Bats
We coach kids of all playing stages - there will be always one or two that have never played regardless of division. These are always helpful for starting on catching.
Franklin Sports Indestructible Baseball - White: Polyethylene Training Balls, Set of 6
We always have a starter / first timer glove tucked in our wagon - there’s always a moment when a player shows up to practice forgetting theirs.
Franklin Sports 10" T-Web Glove with Ball: Youth PVC Mitt, Right-Handed, All-Purpose
So important for kids to understand stepping on bases - we love this because it doesn’t move around and makes kids learn the importance of stepping on it.
QUICKPLAY Rubber Baseball Base Set - 3 Bases
Learning starts early - defensive plays are not only done with throwing the ball around. This is extremely helpful for younger boys to understand moving around and where they need to be - a skill they’ll learn and develop as they grow.

Game Day Essentials
After years of managing, here is a round-up of game day essentials we realized (the hard way) are must haves.
You can never have too many balls in a bucket for players to grand for warming up. We split up players in to catching, fielding and hitting zones at warm up.
Gotta have a tee at warm up. It’s essential for kids at warm up as it keeps their swings in check.
Franklin Sports MLB Heavy Duty Batting Tee
This is so convenient to allow everyone in the dugout to see the line up and defensive positions. No more guessing/constantly asking
Magnetic Baseball Dry Erase Lineup Board
Can’t recommend this enough - super sturdy, clips are heavy duty, folds easily to put away and mesh is so spacious for helmets. Storage bag is super sturdy as well - also comes with cards for names!
Can’t recommend this enough. Younger players have a common tendency to hold their swing on contact. Iykyk. This weighted ball has been so helpful in developing that follow through swing bc the player can see if they are based on how the ball absorbs ...
SKLZ Contact Ball Baseball & Softball 15oz
Individual Player Must Haves
Comes with batting gloves attachment on the inside! If you know, you know!
GoSports Youth Baseball Equipment Backpack with Customizable Charm Panel - Black
We have a small backyard and limited front yard space - yet practice needs to happen at home, too. This has been helpful bc the size and weight are the same but it doesn’t go too far when hit.
LoFli Practice Baseballs - Regulation Weight & Size, Reduced Flight, Soft Training Balls
This has really been nice and helpful for our small outdoor spaces
