Complete stories you can finish in a single volume - perfect for trying something new without committing to a long series
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of my favorite anime, and 0 is a great way to explore its world without committing to the whole series. It's full of action and can be enjoyed as its own story, while also giving you extra context for the main series.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 [Standalone Prequel]
I read this in one day and absolutely loved it. It's incredibly emotional and bittersweet, but it's one of those short stories that stays with you.
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas [Standalone]
A very wholesome and easy-to-read BL romance. It's calm, sweet and beautiful without needing a huge plot to keep you invested.
Seaside Stranger [Standalone]
2-3 Volumes
Short complete collections for when you want a little more than a standalone, but still want to keep your bookshelf compact
One of my favorite short collections. Vampires, insane action, and interesting characters - the Deluxe editions also make the whole series look amazing on a shelf.
Hellsing Deluxe [3 volumes]
I watched the movie and enjoyed it, so I wanted to give the manga a try too. A beautiful short romance with a supernatural twist.
Your Name [3 volumes]
I really enjoyed the first volume - it's a complex sci-fi classic with a lot to think about. The second volume wasn't as much for me, but the first works well on its own.
The Ghost in the Shell [2 volumes]
A hidden gem I picked up on a whim. A badass female Yakusa lead, gangsters, revenge and lots of action. The story gets pretty wild, but I had a lot of fun with it.
Ryuko [2 volumes]
6-7 Volumes
A little more room for the story to develop, while keeping your collection short. Perfect for more plot and character development without filling an entire bookshelf
I read this in one day and absolutely loved it. It's so much more than a typical romance, with a story about guilt, regret and learning to move forward. It genuinely made me cry - I can't recommend it enough.
Orange [7 volumes]
An absolute classic. Iconic characters, an amazing cat-and-mouse story and a complete collection in only 6 Black Edition volumes.
Death Note Black Edition [6 volumes]
I watched the movie first and really loved it, which eventually made me want to pick up the manga. It's an emotional story about bullying, guilt, forgiveness and learning to reconnect with others.
A Silent Voice [7 volumes]
One of my favorite rom-com manga. It's funny, wholesome and full of characters that are genuinely fun to spend time with.
Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku [6 volumes]
A sci-fi classic with an incredible story. The artwork is amazing and has such a unique style, and I love the oversized edition - it looks gorgeous on a shelf, especially with the colored page edges.
Akira [6 volumes]
