Start by seasoning ground beef with salt and pepper and cooking it in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, breaking it apart until lightly browned. 
Drain any excess fat. Next, stir in the pasta sauce, water, and broken lasagna noodles and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the noodles are tender. 
Once the noodles are cooked, stir in ricotta cheese along with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Let the mixture cook uncovered for about 5 minutes, allowing everything to melt together into a creamy sauce. 
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. 
Finally, sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top, remove the skillet from the heat, and let it sit for a few minutes so the sauce thickens slightly. Just before serving, add fresh chopped basil if desired for a bright finishing touch.
