Standalones

The books that managed to completely consume my life all on their own.

I’m not a sci-fi person, so how did this become my first 5-star read of 2026? 😅 The writing is so fun and digestible, even when there’s a ridiculous amount of science and maths going on. The characters are incredibly likeable, and the movie captured...

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more dysfunctional family. They’ve got it allll: secrets, drama, mental illness, you name it. I absolutely love Jessa Hastings’ writing, and she never fails to keep me hooked.

I loooove me some drama! 😭 If you liked Carrie Soto Is Back, put this one on your list. We follow two pro figure skaters throughout their careers and their tumultuous relationship with each other, all set in an incredibly high-pressure world. I flew...

The chemistry between these two had me giggling and kicking my feet fr fr. Watching them figure out this situation with so much understanding was beautiful, and the disability representation is something we need to see wayyy more often. Technically p...

Two people discovering that their partners are having an affair, told entirely through letters. This one is pretty short but SO engaging, especially because of (or despite?) the format! But then again, I’d read Taylor Jenkins Reid’s grocery list, so....

Imagine: you’re on an all-inclusive holiday and the sun just... stops working? I read this one while I was on holiday myself, so I could perfectly picture this whole thing happening, which really added to the experience. I think this was one of the m...

Ernest Cunningham might be one of the funniest characters I’ve ever encountered in a book. Also, who doesn’t love a good (cozy) mystery featuring a bunch of wonderfully peculiar characters? This is the first book in a series, which I’d definitely rec...
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone

The Beartown Trilogy

One of those series I wish I could read for the first time all over again. I gave all three books 5 stars and absolutely flew through them.

Started 2025 off with this BANGER of a book. This story is told through so many different POVs that you shouldn’t be able to connect with all of them, BUT YOU DO. Backman is an incredible writer who absolutely trampled all over my heart with this one...

Couldn’t get enough of Beartown, so I immediately dived into this one, and it did NOT disappoint! More heartbreak, more devastating character arcs, but also more of Backman’s beautiful writing.
Us Against You (Beartown, #2) by Fredrik Backman

Fredrik Backman decided to thank me for my loyalty to his books by breaking my heart and stomping on it 16 (iykyk) times, and I still ate it up. So devastating, but so beautifully told. I can’t recommend this series enough!!

The Hunger Games

A modern classic that somehow only gets more devastating with every book. I’ve devoured this entire series and will clearly keep coming back whenever Suzanne Collins decides to break my heart again.

If you haven’t read this yet, WHAT ARE YOU DOING???!!! This is a modern classic and Suzanne Collins is a genius walking among us. (And no, watching the movie does NOT count.)

Catching Fire is hands down the best book in the original trilogy. We meet so many more characters and really get to see just how big and elaborate the Games really are. Also, that ending?? SHOOK.

Can’t believe Suzanne Collins almost had me feeling for this evil, evil man. No but seriously, such a great way to explore the origins of the Games and understand why Snow is the way he is.

The way I RAN to the store when this came out 😭 And then devoured it in two days (only two because I had to physically restrain myself, and it was not good for my mental health). Can’t wait to see this on the big screen in November. This is your sig...
