This house is best known as the inspiration for world-renowned American author Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel of the same name.
The House of the Seven Gables
This is the newest hotel in the area. It was a great, comfortable stay and within walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Salem.
Hampton Inn Salem Boston
This is one of the oldest cemeteries in the entire country. Reading the old headstones and seeing the difference in today's headstones versus this original design was fascinating.
Charter Street Cemetery Welcome Center
Good museum that gives a quick overview of the witch trials. You have to get tickets the same day. During busy season, you will want to be in the virtual queue at 12 am.
Salem Witch Museum
Aka Allison's House in Hocus Pocus
Ropes Mansion and Garden
The only house still standing with direct ties to the witch trials.
The Witch House at Salem
This is the oldest living history museum in America and is designed to represent Salem in the year 1630. Make sure to check the hours because it's only open during tourist season.
PIONEER VILLAGE
This is also where the Halloween party was filmed in Hocus Pocus
Old Town Hall
Phillips Elementary School on Salem Common is where Max and Allison went to school in Hocus Pocus.
Salem Common - Salem, MA
This is the perfect way to rest your feet and still see all the highlights of Salem with a guided tour. Our guide was so funny and full of fun facts we used on other tours.
Salem Trolley
This was by far the best thing we did in Salem. Our guide was amazing and kept the tour so fun. We learned so much and she had the credientials to back it up.
Bewitched Tours
Walk Essex Street end-to-end from Salem Common Park to the Witch House. My favorite tip for walking this area is to follow the yellow line on the street. It will take you to every major stop in Salem.

They do award-winning reenactments of the witch trials.
Witch Dungeon Museum
Food and Drink
My recommended food and drink in Salem, MA, based on my three-day trip.
Locals voted this best breakfast in the area and we agreed! Definitely get there early or else there will be a wait.
Red's Sandwich Shop
These macarons were too good. Pefect late night hotel snack.
Lulu's Bakery and Pantry
Had such great bar food here!
Rockafellas Restaurant
Even the Salem locals were telling us this is one of the best restaurants in the area.
Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall -Salem
The only rooftop bar in Salem. I recommend for a drink but would pass on doing any entrees.
The Roof
This was voted one of the best places for lunch in Salem by locals. It was a great stop to warm up and have a light lunch!
