Montreal may be one of the best cities in North America for walking and taking the metro (subway/underground). Don't miss out on the pleasure of the experience.
Take The Metro and Walk
I find it super helpful to take a language learning tour at the beginning of a trip to get myself oriented to the language and area I'm visiting.
I hate airbnb, but this host puts on a nice tour, and it will also take you around Old Montreal which is a sight in and of itself.

The barbie expo is fun way to kill an hour or two for free. Its near many other museums as well.

Beautiful park in the summer as well, but a nice place to skate in the winter. They have rental skates too.

Sort of out of the way, but a gorgeous place to visit in the summer months.

Laurentian Mountains Day Trip
If you're visiting in the summer there will be no shortage of festivals. This is one of the most popular and they even have free outdoor shows with pretty big names. I saw Trixie Mattel for free here a few years ago.
Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in July
During this event there are tons of shows and workshops available.

Food
I'm gluten free and vegan, and I find Montreal to be one of the easiest cities to eat in, and eat well too.
I love this sushi place. Such a vibe and delicious.
Momo
They serve you your meal in pitch darkness, so you really get to experience the food. The waitstaff are all blind so they are more adept at getting around the space.
Onoir
Fast-fine vegan dining.
I've been going here pretty much since they've opened, and never been disappointed.
LOV
This place is perfect for a satisfying lunch. I love brazilian tapiocas, and they do a caprese one here that's fantastic.
Tapi Go!
My favorite dessert shop. Everything here is gluten free, vegan, and delicious.
Vegâteau
A great spot for quick food since its buffet style and they're open relatively late. Lots of tasty options.
Resto Végo St-Denis
This restaurant has a few locations and the food is good.
Restaurants Lola Rosa
Sweet little lunch spot with cats. I feel like thats all you need to know to know you need to go. This area is also very pretty.
Tricky to eat if you're both vegan and gluten free, but one or the other should be fine.
Café Chat L'Heureux
Great little place to grab a meal. The restaurant was founded to save the historical building its located in and the terrace is really special.

This is the kind of shopping I like to do when traveling 🛍️ The word used for thrift here is fripe and a thrift store is a friperie.
A fantastic vintage shop with a wide range of prices and styles, and a great place to grab a latte or a light lunch while shopping.

Les Folles Alliees
I like this shop for colorful and fun patterns, but they also have a lot of denim if thats your thing. The vibes are 80's & 90's to me.
