I work from cafés three or four days a week and I'm the friend who picks the spot based on the lighting, so this list is the result of a lot of “research.” These are the Miami cafés that are genuinely beautiful AND have good matcha AND won't kick you...

Laptop-Friendly vs. Just-for-the-Photo
Every note says which one it is. Rough rule: Design District and Wynwood spots are for working, Miami Beach ones are for a pretty drink and leaving.
LAPTOP-FRIENDLY. The Wynwood original and still the best coffee on this list — they roast their own. Shaded patio, plenty of outlets inside, and nobody rushes you. Gets loud around midday, so go early if you're on calls.
Panther Coffee (Wynwood)
JUST FOR THE PHOTO (and the food). Australian-style brunch, all white walls and greenery, and the light in there is unreal. It's busy enough that camping with a laptop feels rude — come for an actual meal, get the matcha, take the picture, go.
Threefold Cafe (Coral Gables)
JUST FOR THE PHOTO. All-white bakery with a rainbow-striped exterior that everyone photographs. The bread is the actual reason to go — get it early, the good stuff sells out. Seating is limited and it's not a work spot.
Zak the Baker (Wynwood)
LAPTOP-FRIENDLY. Downtown spot with big windows, plants everywhere and that COFFEE sign everyone shoots. Quieter than Wynwood so you can actually take a call, and they don't mind you settling in for a while.
Vice City Bean
JUST FOR THE PHOTO. The flower-wall exterior is the most photographed doorway in Wynwood for a reason. Donuts are genuinely excellent and the coffee is better than a donut shop needs it to be. Expect a line on weekends.
The Salty (Wynwood)
LAPTOP-FRIENDLY. The unpretentious one on this list — French bakery-deli in Buena Vista with a shaded patio, croissants that hold up, and no scene whatsoever. Where I go when I need to actually finish something.
Buena Vista Deli
JUST FOR THE PHOTO. All-white gelateria on Commodore Plaza with the prettiest little storefront in the Grove. Not a work spot at all — it's a walk-around-and-eat-gelato stop, which is the entire point of Coconut Grove.
Bianco Gelato Coconut Grove
LAPTOP-FRIENDLY. The healthy-bowl-and-smoothie one, and the Brickell location is bright and plant-filled. Reliable matcha, easy to sit for a couple of hours, and there are enough locations that there's usually one near you.
Pura Vida (Brickell)
LAPTOP-FRIENDLY. Bright neighbourhood bakery near UM — wood, plants, big windows, and a proper sourdough program. Calm enough to work, and the fact that it isn't an Instagram destination is exactly why I like it.
Madruga Bakery
JUST FOR THE PHOTO. Probably the prettiest room on this list — arches, greenery spilling over the entrance, warm lighting all day. It's Mediterranean food more than a café, so come hungry and bring someone to photograph you.
Cafe Motek (Downtown)
JUST FOR THE PHOTO. Restored deco counter on Calle Ocho — tiled, tiny, and the most photogenic cortadito in Miami. Come for a Cuban sandwich and a colada, not to work. Best stop if you're doing the Little Havana walk.
