Let’s talk about ACIDS (skin care)
You don’t need to use all these acids at once, and doing so isn’t recommended. The choice depends on your skin type, specific concerns, and possible sensitivities. Here are some basic guidelines:
1. For Exfoliation (Be mindful of frequency!)
➖Salicylic acid – great for oily, acne-prone skin.
➖Glycolic acid – speeds up cell turnover, ideal for dull skin.
➖Lactic acid – gently exfoliates and hydrates, suitable for sensitive skin.
➖Mandelic acid – a milder option, good for sensitive skin or hyperpigmentation.
2. For Hydration & Anti-Aging
➖Hyaluronic acid – locks in moisture and reduces fine lines.
➖Ferulic acid – a powerful antioxidant that protects against aging.
➖Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) – boosts collagen production and brightens skin.
3. For Specific Skin Concerns
➖Azelaic acid – helps with acne and rosacea, evens out skin tone.
➖Citric acid – a mild exfoliant that enhances skin glow.
If you want to combine multiple acids, do so carefully to avoid irritation. For example, don’t use strong exfoliants on the same day as vitamin C or retinol.
