Must have places to eat and things to do while in the Milwaukee, Wi area. I was born and raised here in Wisconsin. We are known for our football and dairy! Though ironically, I can't eat dairy unless it comes from Europe.

Things to do
These are some of our favorite things to do when we need a family day! When the kids were little, they used to put ideas in a hat, and we would draw something out.
This zoo is smaller than the Milwaukee zoo, but better. You can walk the zoo in less then 3 hours. It's great for small kids who can't be out and about all day in the warm weather. Parking is free too!
Henry Vilas Zoo
This is one of our favorite places to go skiing. I do not ski, but my husband and kids do. They mastered all of the hills in their first season skiing. It's hard to get them off the hills.
Little Switzerland Ski Area
My kids have gone here many times. Sometimes it is just for fun and sometimes for a gift for a family member. They have a variety of pottery items to paint. We have also done glass fusing together which was a unique experience. We have had birthday p...
Soul Fire Art Studio, Ltd
The kids always had a blast here! They got to pet animals, get food and drinks, and run the obstacles that they have. The kids could spend all day here. It is a seasonal activity, though. They are not open all year, so check their website for days of...
Busy Barn Farm Adventures
This is one of our favorite fairs to attend. You have to grab a cream puff! The family loves them and often grabs extra to go. They always have unique foods to try, games to play, things to buy etc. It's only 1 week in August though, so you have to p...
Wisconsin State Fair Park
This is another favorite fair that runs all Summer, but only on weekends. It is a little pricey to get in, but it's a unique experience. They have fun shows, unique foods, and fun games for the kids. They enjoyed climbing the rope ladder up to the tr...
The Bristol Renaissance Faire - Home - Kenosha, WI
Everyone is very excited about football in Wisconsin. They go to all the games and go well in advance so they can eat and drink in the parking lot. It does get kind of cold so you have to dress warm.

Great places to eat
Some of our favorite places to eat in the area!
This place has good food but it's more about the bowling experience. My oldest doesn't like to bowl, but she loves going to this place for bowling. It's a bit different because the lane is shorter and the ball is smaller.
Thirsty Duck Sussex
This is a must-see! They have great food and entertainment. You can go with the kids during the day. Our kids loved it! If you don't know the password to get in, they will still let you in, but you will have to do something funny. They have puzzles a...
SafeHouse
The food is pretty good. I typically get the fish tacos or the taco salad. The kids just want to play games in the arcade. It's more about the entertainment than the food, but the kids have so much fun!
The Mineshaft
Portillo's is so famous for their Chicago style hotdogs and Italian beef sandwiches. They do have some great desserts too. I think they originated in Chicago and it took a long time for us to get one here in the Milwaukee area.
Portillo's Brookfield
Dinner with a view! They often have live music if you like that sort of thing. The lake views are pretty and the food is tasty too. They have delicious homemade soups and good wraps. Check it out if you are in the area.
Foolery's on Okauchee Lake
This restaurant has have the best chicken tenders and fish tacos! With nicer weather you can sit outside and watch the lake. Our kids also really like this restaurant. They are often busy so you may want to get their early.
