✏️ Basics We Use Every Day
These are a lifesaver for phonics — we spell out sight words, practice sounds, or just let him build silly words. Way more fun than a worksheet.
Magnetic Letters
Any kind of hands-on counting tool is gold. We use cubes for addition, subtraction, patterns, or just stacking when attention is running low.
Counting Cubes / Math Manipulatives
It sounds basic, but having chunky pencils and decent erasers really helps little hands. The cheap ones break too fast, so I stick with Ticonderoga.
Good Pencils + Erasers
I don’t know why, but writing on a whiteboard feels way more exciting than paper to my kid. We use it for quick math problems, phonics, or doodles between lessons.
Whiteboard + Dry Erase Markers
🎨 Creative + Hands-On
Easy cleanup, but it still feels like ‘real art.’ My kid loves painting while I read aloud.
Watercolor + Paint Paper
Not just for fun — we roll letters, numbers, or shapes while practicing lessons. It keeps hands busy and brain engaged. We LOVE these nontoxic kits from Little Hands Dough Co.
Spidey Playdough Kit
We cut, paste, and collage all the time. Great for fine motor practice and making projects feel more official.
Scissors + Glue Sticks
📖 Learning Helpers
These are perfect for early reading. Short, simple books that actually build confidence instead of overwhelming. 🌟
Decodable Readers
Classic, but they work — quick review, games, or even matching activities. We use them for 5-minute bursts.
