If you’re getting a betta, I’d honestly skip the tiny bowls and go for a 10-gallon tank. It gives them much more room to swim and makes it easier to keep the water stable.

Definitely don’t skip the heater. Bettas are tropical fish, so keeping the water consistently warm is really important.

Get one of these even if your heater has a temperature setting. You’ll want to actually see what temperature the water is instead of guessing

A must-have if you’re using tap water. I’d keep a bottle on hand because you’ll need it whenever you add or replace water.

This is one of those things beginners sometimes overlook, but I’d definitely have one. Clear-looking water doesn’t necessarily mean the water parameters are safe.

This is one I’d keep in my betta’s feeding routine. The pellets are easy to portion, and I like that you don’t need to give a lot at each feeding. Just be careful not to overfeed bettas really don’t need much!

My favorite part of setting up a betta tank! Plants make the aquarium look so much more natural and give your betta places to explore and rest.

This is such a cute little addition to a betta tank! I’d definitely recommend having a floating hideout because bettas love having a cozy spot near the surface where they can rest and feel secure. It’s also fun seeing them swim in and out of it.

Gravel or sand makes such a difference aesthetically, especially if you’re going for a planted tank. Just make sure it’s aquarium-safe and rinse it before adding it.

Definitely one of those boring-but-important aquarium essentials. I always recommend keeping a bottle around because you’ll need water conditioner whenever you’re preparing tap water for the tank.

This is the type of filter I’d choose for a betta because the flow is gentle. Bettas with big flowing fins especially don’t need to be fighting against a strong current all day.

If you want your tank to look more natural, this is such a pretty choice. It also gives your betta somewhere to swim around and hide without taking over the whole aquarium.
