I haven't met a book written by Fiona McIntosh that I didn't like! This book is part one of a story about war, love and strength. Highly recommend if you love historical fiction.
The Lavender Keeper: Fiona McIntosh
The sequel to The Lavender Keeper, a wonderful story of love written by a fabulous story teller
The French Promise - Fiona McIntosh
What a story! A love triangle, espionage, betrayal. It's a page turner!
The Spy's Wife - Fiona McIntosh
I loved this story! An interesting perspective of what it was like for Parisian's during the occupation of WWII, and a look into the dangerous and brave work of Resistance at the time.
The Paris Housekeeper: Renee Ryan
I loved this book. I'm not a huge "fashionista" but the juxtaposition of high fashion living on during wartime is truly fascinating. Throw in the bravery of the Resistance and some romance and you've got a captivating story worth losing yourself in.
The Last Fashion House in Paris: Renee Ryan
Such an interesting story about banned books during WWII and a movement that kept those books alive despite the risk to their life.
The Wartime Book Club - Kate Thompson
A classic story of the Holocaust. Told through the eyes of a young boy. An easy read, but a heavy emotional tale. So well written with an ending that will leave you lost for words and stay with you long after you close the book.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: John Boyne
Your WWII book collection is incomplete without this! A brave and compelling story of a girl and her obsession with books. An obsession that she risks her life for.
The Book Thief: Markus Zuak
Non-Fiction
This book had me gripped the whole time! Based on the true story of the real tattooist. Told as a captivating story, rather than an autobiography. Gripping, confronting and uplifting all at the same time.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz: Heather Morris
If you've read The Tattooist (or want to), then this is a necessary addition. We're introduced to Cilka in the first novel, and her story is an unbelievable read.
Cilka's Journey: Heather Morris
I can't even begin to describe how this book affected me. What these children endured is beyond comprehension, and the fact Eva (the author, and a Holocaust Survivor) made it out alive and to live until old age is beyond inspiring. Highly recommend, ...
The Twins of Auschwitz: Eva Mozes Kor
A heartbreaking and unbelievably true story of courage, strength and determination.
