Absurdist Plays
Samuel Beckett is my FAVOURITE Absurdist playwright of whom I gain a lot of my inspiration from, for my personal works.
One of the strangest plays I've had the chance to watch on YouTube and read. All the words blur together in a line, but yet through its jagged lines and incomprehensible story, there's something deep there if you pay attention.
Samuel Beckett, Not I (1971) - Ricorso
For this play, I highly recommend watching the performance first before taking the time to read it. The performance that typically pops up on Youtube is with Alan Rickman. After watching, come back and read over the play to get a better understanding...

Waiting for Godot is one of Samuel Becketts most critically acclaimed pieces of work in his archive. It can be easily found on youtube and is one i highly recommend that you READ first before watching.
Waiting for Godot
The bald soprano is an intricately, wacky narrative that's webs itself together in very interesting ways. What you see wont remain the same.

Theatrical Realism
These plays are some of the first that ive read and analyzed in my life. I think they teach great lessons on how to tap into realistic conversations in day-to-day life through captivating modes of storytelling.
A doll's house is a play that really stands the test of time as it pertains to some realities regarding motherhood and marriage. This play may not speak to the present day experiences of women in these positions in totality, however it does embark in...
A Doll's House
This story follows an idealistic son hellbent on uncovering the truth behind his friends past, a little girl, and a duck.

This play is one of the most intriguing realistic plays ive read, mainly due to how frustrated I became with the characters. Phenomenal story, though.
The Cherry Orchard
Canadian Plays
These are all the plays I read that are written in Canada! Reading plays from your own, or other countries, allows for greater perspectives and varying ways to tell a story.
I had to re-share this one. This is an important read to learn about somethings in Canadian history that many are ignorant of.
Angelique by Lorena Gale
This is a dramatic telling of one of Canada's notable figures, Billy Bishop, in a play that focuses on his perspective in WWI.
Billy Bishop Goes to War
A beautiful story with so many important conversations from abuse, to family, to generational curses. It's a very important story to get into and may be a little difficult, due to some graphic descriptions.
Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing
This is a comedic play where in which a woman named Constance, in a moment of utter anguish and despair, slips into her subconscious towards a journey of self discovery, with the help of two Shakespearean plays (Othello and Romeo & Juliet).
