My first screen was a manual pull-down that never rolled up straight and always had a visible wrinkle. Switching to motorized changed everything. These roll up at the push of a button and sit invisible until movie night.

A great screen means nothing if your projector washes out or you need the thing mounted 15 feet away. I went through three projectors before landing on ones that actually work in normal-sized rooms without turning the lights completely off.

The screen itself is only half the battle. Getting it mounted so it blends into the ceiling took me more trips to the hardware store than I want to admit. These are the pieces that made mine look built-in instead of bolted on.

Spent a week perfecting my screen and projector combo only to realize the window across the room was washing out every dark scene. Controlling light in the room made a bigger difference than upgrading the projector itself.
