The first sandbox I bought had a ‘cover’ that blew off in a light breeze. These ones actually latch or fit snug enough that nothing gets in overnight.

Even with a lid, some moisture sneaks in. I went through three bags of sand that turned into concrete before finding ones that actually drain and stay loose.

First summer I skipped the liner. Weeds growing through the sand by July. Never again.

My kids snapped three shovels in one afternoon. Started buying sturdier stuff and the difference is night and day.

Our sandbox lid cracked after one winter. Buying a standalone cover saved me from replacing the whole thing.

Ants colonized our sandbox in August. Had to dump the entire thing. Now I keep the perimeter treated so that never happens again.

My daughter got sunburned through sunscreen sitting in the sandbox at noon. Added shade and now they play twice as long without me worrying.

Standing over a sandbox for 45 minutes wrecked my back. Got myself a seat nearby and suddenly sandbox time became my favorite part of the day.

Nobody tells you that sandbox upkeep is a thing until you're staring at clumpy sand full of leaf bits. These keep it playable without a full sand swap every month.

Little additions I didn't think we needed until we tried them. Now I can't imagine sandbox time without this stuff.
