as a real dough lover, these are some of my favorite go-to's to have a fill of bread, bread and more bread in amsterdam.

centrum
these are the hotspots in/near the centre of amsterdam. the list includes some (hidden?) gems.
this is one of those hidden gems for me. their sandwiches are amazing and the have great drinks as wel.
i highly recommend the OG sandwich and the spicy chicken (halal).
Rosèl Amsterdam
chun has become such a viral sensation in amsterdam that they had to open a second location (spuistraat). and yet, the stream of visitors at BOTH locations seem never-ending. be prepared to spend some time outside, but it is definitely worth the wait...
their bulgogi sando is especially delicious! it is buttery and crispy and it is a superior combo with the strawberry matcha.
take-away is also an option (and the waiting time is definitely shorter).
Chun Café Spuistraat
an authentic italian business in the middle of amsterdam with a broad selection of sandwiches and also great espresso! my favorites are the cortano and madesimo.
for vegetarian, i'd go for the mondello or spello.
and for the big players, the tiramisu hits quite the sweet spot (literally).
Caldi e Freddi
another source of bread that just hits. they have three different locations in amsterdam, this one is close to the rembrandt museum.
my recommendations are the mortadella, piccante and for the vegan options i'd say melanzane!
ps. this is also a spot that can get crowded, but hey, sacrifices must be made for something great.
ZeroZero Nieuwe Spiegelstraat
hands down one of the tastiest baguettes i've had in amsterdam! the shell was not too hard and the insides were fluffy. the combination of the aforementioned with the filling, it was a solid sandwich.
i recommend the leauf de boeuf and the chef spec...
Leauf Amsterdam
when you're around the area of chinatown make sure to not overlook this little gem. it is namely a local favorite! besides it being an actual butcher, they also sell sandwiches.
the sandwiches are made to order and they have a sandwich of the week.
Slagerij Vet
apparently some people swear by this shop but i have to try it out myself first. although i haven't tasted it yet, i do think it's worth a visit just by the way they fill the bread.
also the swirl of white and brown bread of the pastrami sandwich looks really interesting. can't want to give it a try!
Davie's Amsterdam
my friend goes here weekly and i totally understand. their bread is freshly made, like you can see them preparing the batches for the next orders, which is really cool to see.
furthermore, the prices are quite decent for amsterdam and you have meat ...
Casa di David Amsterdam
others (but still in amsterdam)
locations (just) outside of the city centre but deserve love too. worth the extra steps you ought to take, and you get to see the neighborhood.
a whopper of a schiacciata to be very honest. they fill your sandwich to the brim, making sure you're good for the rest of the day.
i recommend the mortadella & pistachio for the cold ones but if you prefer your food warm, go for the fried chicken. you'll thank me later.
Dough Studio
haven't tried this one yet but i will when i get the chance 🤞
it looks like they fill their sandwiches generously. personally i would go for the patty melt or the caesar chicken. brioche bread >> FTW
Broodje Gerard
they've been there for about 26 years!
the filling is so insane that the sandwich barely closes so if you want a grab and go, make sure you're to get some tissues with you.
they also have seats inside if you'd like to take a little time to enjoy the sandwich.
