Landmarks
A city known for its hustle and bustle, Kuala Lumpur’s landmarks are predominantly impressive buildings but some of these are world famous and incredibly outstanding!
Kuala Lumpur’s most famous landmark - stunning day and night! Don’t waste your money going up them as the best thing is the view from below!
Petronas Twin Tower
Arguably the best activity in KL! Stunning and fascinating to walk around, there are plenty of juice and drink vendors around as well as places to grab a bite to eat.
Batu Caves
With indoor and outdoor observation areas, KL tower provides great views of the whole city (especially at sunset!)
Kuala Lumpur (KL) Tower
So pretty lit up at night, and easy stop during the day if you’re around Bukit Bintang
The River of Life
The second tallest building in the world, best views are from the KL Tower
Merdeka 118
Built in the 19th century, this is a stunning building next to Independence Square
Sultan Abdul Samad Building
A grassy area in the middle of the city, children play here and families sit and relax - a nice spot to rest
Independence Square
Things to Do
Plenty of picture opportunities lay around the city along with some amazing day trips and indoor activities for those especially hot days!
My favourite viewpoint of the twin towers at night! And some great little food spots at either end of the bridge with live music!
Saloma Link Bridge
Amazing views of the towers, with a kids park and swimming area right next to the mall
KLCC Park
An enjoyable, colourful few hours walking around
Little India
A great day tour that includes transport, free time, and the Batu Caves
Genting Highlands Day Tour (with Batu Caves)
A gorgeous garden with a beautiful lake in the middle of the city
Perdana Botanical Gardens
An easy indoor activity for those super hot days
Aquaria KLCC
Free entry! A cool afternoon (and the bakery inside is really good as well)
KL City Art Gallery
I love street art wherever I go, and KL has some of the best!
Kwai Chai Hong Street Art
Cultural
Beautifully intricate religious places, with a fusion of cultures living in Malaysia there are stunning mosques right alongside gorgeous temples - these are my favourite two.
Arrive just before sunset - the lanterns light up and it is so so beautiful, a little out of the city so useful to see via a tour or get a Grab
Thean Hou Temple
My favourite thing in KL was the free guided tour here. A really friendly atmosphere, and so interesting to talk about Islam with people who love it peacefully.
Masjid Wilayah Mosque
Food & Shopping
A foodie’s dream city break! Amazingly authentic food from all around Asia, sandwiched between sprawling malls and narrow street markets.
A brilliant little hub perfect for a souvenir shopping afternoon, some great restaurants inside as well!
Central Market
Get taken out of the tourist areas on an evening food tour to try some popular local treats (one of my favourite things I did!)
Chow Kit Market Food Tour
Such a good modern food spot
After One
The main tourist hub - lively at night, and easy to spend a full day here eating and shopping!
Bukit Bintang
Fresh street food, cold drinks and souvenir shopping
Petaling Street Market
Shop to your heart’s content!
Pavilion
Cheap, local and really tasty street food
Jalan Alor Food Market
A shopping mall with a roller coaster inside!!
Berjaya Times Square
Amazingly good food and simple, order via QR code!
leaf & co. cafe
Stays
A mixed bag of accommodation varying in price and quality. With hotel scams rife in the main area of Bukit Bintang, it’s sometimes best not to stray from chain hotels.
Around £11 a night, cheap but still nice!
Mingle Hostel
Colonial style decor, and really beautiful. A nice mid range priced option!
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lu…
Affordable and simple, KL has a lot of hotel scams so it’s sometimes a safe option to choose a large chain hotel
